My stress trigger has be popping in and out to see me during preparations for my OH 50th birthday party this Saturday. And then my socialising and party triggers will be paying me a visit all night when the guests arrive, pestering me whilst I'm hosting and mingling.
I gotta stay strong, but I'm determined. I hope a few drinks won't let my guard down, and I stay firmly implanted in the house, and not drift outside with the smokers ...

You can do this Gedhatr! these tests make us stronger, just remember how well you have done, and why your doing it have a great time, and just think you will be smelling so sweet, no horrid tobacco smell Stay strong!!!
Yah, tooshay! Thanks for the encouragement. My OH is on the Champix too, but he hasn't quit yet. Can't blame him - it is his party on Saturday
It's not bothering me much when he goes outside for a cig. Yeah, the smell of stale tobacco isn't very pleasant, so I've got to think 'uurggh, did I smell like that ...?' That's enough to keep going!
Gedhart, you can do this if you stay focused. Dont let your guard down and you will be fine. Remember why you quit in the first place. Someone said on here once, and it stuck with me, if smoking was so great why did you decide to quit? It is true, you wanted to quit for very good reasons those reasons will still stand on Saturday night. Have a great night.
I had my 70th birthday party last Friday and I too worried about how I would cope, but I was fine, I had a fab time and didn't need a cig to enjoy myself. You will be ok too, enjoy your smoke free birthday
Thanks for all your comments. I admit that the build up to the party prep was pretty stressful, which tested me. Party night, I stayed strong and made it through, and to be honest, it didn't really bother me that much! In fact, the smokers coming back in from outside reeked! That really helped me know I wasn't missing it

Ooh well done!!
That was a tough test, but you passed it with flying colours, how fab is that?
On my first few nights out as a non-smoker it really hit me when people came in from having a fag, especially my smoker friends 'cos they were sitting with me - that and how much they actually smoked.
You're right, you're not missing a thing by not smoking - you're setting yourself free of a stinky horrible thing.
Congratulations on not giving in I seem to suffer most from the craves at the weekend... I have no idea why tho... but all is well in smoke free week two... soon to be three gang xxx chuft for all of us
How about using this situation to test yourself. I was out last week and I purposely visited the smokers outside and mingled with them. I did it to remind myself of how smelly and stupid smoking is. The smell inside from the smokers returning also put me off. I call it fagfart.
Try not to build yourself up to fail. Relax and plan your night - have some nic-gum ready so if it gets too much you have something to fall back onto. Have fun!
HA - just read you have had the night. And you did well - magic. That's what happens when you read the opening comment on the thread then go on to support it without reading the other comments deeeeer.
