I'm new here. I'm using champix and am so far dong ok just a few cravings here and there which have so far been quite manageable. Do feel a bit rough today from the nicotine withdrawal but going to visit a non smoking friend and keep myself busy cleaning.
I went to the smoking clinic yesterday and did the nicotine breathalyzer thing and it was such a good feeling to see it say 0 nicotine
I really am determined to do this. All I have to do is never pick up a cigarette again right? I can do that! I can I can I can.
I think tomorrow will be the ultimate test of my strength. I am going to my daughters 6 year old school friends funeral which is no doubt going to be horrendous. If I can make it through tomorrow I think i'll be able to make it through anything.
Anyway, thought i'd introduce myself I think i'm going to need you guys
Sending you all lots of strength to make it through another day xx

Hi
Welcome to the forum!
This is my favourite place to be, pretty much all of the time, because I can just have a good read or a moan if I'm struggling. Please feel free to join in on a rant if you feel the need. It really makes all the difference between caving and saying NO.
Good luck for day 3 and I hope tomorrow see's you through okay.
Waiting to go to funeral and could really do with a ciggy. I wont though because I don't want to stink of smoke. Going to take a lollipop for after.
I wish I could fast forward a month
xx
Lollipops are always a good idea. I think I'll be needing a visit to my dentist soon, as I seem to have made my way through rather a lot of sweet treats lately!
Stay away from the filthy sickarette! You will feel guilty afterwards and you'll stink. Just remember that. Also, you will have beaten a massive craving at a time that you would usually depend on the little devil whispering at you
I try to remind myself that it will probably be quite an unremarkable experience, giving in, and I'll only be left feeling disappointed and let down.
Ride it through and you'll be feeling better in no time!
Welcome to the forum but sorry to hear that you have a tough day to day.
If it helps just think hour by hour, you've got this far and it would be a real disappointment for you if you had to do day 1 all over again. You will feel so pleased with yourself when you wake up tomorrow and are still a non smoker
Lollipops sound a great idea , Sarah Lou has just suggested the same to me on another thread.
Post when you can to let us all know how you are doing
Just wanted to come back on this thread and say thanks for the support. I survived last week and my daughters birthday party last night and now on day 9
Also, lollipops are a fab idea except that I now have about 10 painful mouth ulcers. Apparently mouth ulcers can be a result of giving up smoking too (who knew!) so not sure whom to blame. It's probably a combination of both. The lollies have really helped though cut down a lot and stocked up on bonjela

Wow, well done for Day 9!
I didn't really have that problem with lollies, but I probably only had one or two a day at the most.
Booo, for the mouth ulcers I've also heard that they can be the result of stopping smoking.
Stay positive and give yourself a pat on the back!
Do you have a reward system in place for the money you're saving?
Yesterday I had to dig out my lighter to light the candles on my daughters cake. That was weird. Had a little 'oh my I could really do with a ciggy now' and then forgot about it.
The first few days I ate a whole load of lollies so i'm really not surprised i've got ulcers especially if I am more vulnerable to getting them. They're really painful when I talk, eat and drink but the lollies got me through the first few days and really it's a case of whatever it takes to not ever smoke again. I knew it wasn't gong to be easy.
I don't have a reward system as such but as I didn't smoke last week we were able to order takeaway as a treat Friday night and I was able to get my daughter an extra last minute birthday present she wanted. We're going to Chessington next week and I wouldn't have been able to afford that if I was still smoking. So far all the treats have been for my daughter (takeaway treat because her school report was so good) which is one of the main reasons I gave up smoking but I think I might have to treat myself to a new pair of shoes or something
