Day 3 - tough going

I wasn't really intending to quit but after developing a bad chest infection, I decided enough was enough. Last cigarette was on Monday 18th Feb at 16:25. I'm cold turkey and finding today particularly tough. I'm still coughing from the infection but suffering quite bad withdraw symptoms

Welcome from a fellow Bournemouthian and congratulations on your decision.

How long have you smoked for? Have you tried to stop before? We're a nosey lot and like to know a little of eachothers history!

I have smoked since I was about 16 years, managing to quit for 4 years with Zyban. Then a trigger and I've been back smoking for the last 5 years ( albeit with a few months smoke free ). This chest infection is horrendous but I'm still getting cravings.

You are in the right place here. These guys are the cats pyjamas at getting a person through the difficult times. Grit your teeth and post away and in no time you'll go longer and longer without cravings.

My other half quit a month ago when he had the norovirus. Only once when I had flu did I not smoke for a day.

Hang on in there. :)

Bourne Chap

Stay strong my love, and using the feeling ill to your advantage. Lots of Vitamin C drinks, especially grapefruit, fresh orange may help as I don't think they particularly go hand in hand with a cig like a cuppa does. And baby steps, please don't look too far ahead.

In my experience the first 3 days are by far the worst. Unfortunately you have to go through these tough early days to get to the much easier later days. Hang tough and just think.... no more chest infections.:)
