Who is Richard Madeley?

I'm guessing he's a Brit but I'm from the other side of the pond so I could be wrong.

Who is he, and why do I see his picture every time I log on to this site? It gets a little boring, to be honest.

What's his claim to fame?

I dunno. It's been that way since I joined last March. The landing page has a picture of Mr. Madeley and some text where he talks about his father dying of lung cancer at 49. He's shown under a banner that says "Celebrities" if that helps.
