Hey everyone,

This is my first post. Day 1, glad I found this forum. What a good idea for a community. Quitting is a bummer, but not worse than smoking, right?

Welcome Noisebox. This is a fantastic group of people. You're encouraged to check in often. Rant, rave, cry...share your successes. Ask for help. Pretty sure some one here will be able to help. ppat

hi noisebox, welcome along and no, quitting is not a bummer, quitting is the best thing you can do for yourself. Some find it tricky but others not, its all about your mindset. My advice - be positive, enjoy the freedom and dont dodge it.

Go for it....

Hi, I agree the first week of your quit is hell but it gets easier every day.

You will notice the positive things about not smoking, the urge to smoke will get easier.

Just get through each hour individually, don't think about the future. You can smoke anytime you want, but you are choosing not to.

Stay strong and good luck. And if you're feeling low, find our stoptober group on here. It's usually good for a laugh.

Day 1 At Last

today is my quit day!!!

after much deliberation(delaying tactics) today I have stopped.

Went to boots at the weekend and picked up some patches and inhaler(for Free even better).Had my last cig late last night and woke up this morning a non smoker... if only it was that easy.

patch is on had a couple of puffs on the inhaler and so far feeling ok if a little light headed, although this might be the patches.

thanks to this forum I hope to succeed.

you can do it...

Noisebox and Dazza well done on getting to day 1. Thats one hurdle behind ya. Take it one day at a time, keep posting and seeking advice, use others atr the same stage to realise your not alone, use others at different stages to help you see that its gets easier as each day passes once you have got through the initial withdrawal (in my case - after day 3!! this was when i decided i was sticking 2 fingers up at fags because i was in control again).

Good luck!!

Noise and Dazz... well done!!! Keep going. as "Fore" says the 1st week is not teh best you will have in your life... but probably wont be the worst either

Have a good read of the boards as you can bet someone will have gone through or going through whatever side effects you guys come up against

Hang on in there :D
