I used it last time I quit, only sporadically and they are as good as any other quit method imho.:)

I failed but not because of the e-cig.I still have it and Im 8 days in and havnt used it yet but would if it meant I didnt smoke. If it gets you through the first few weeks great..I just didnt want to get too dependant on it...

Good luck.....:D

I didn't quit using only e-cigs (I used patches) but I did keep one handy for the times I thought I might crack.

Mind you, I had smoked for 48 years.

Carolrose is right, it is easy to get dependant on them, then you have to give up again as it were.

It's difficult to advise really, as everyone is different. It's better to go completely cold turkey, if you can do it. I fully admit that I couldn't.

In retrospect I'm glad I used the aids I did, as I don't think I would have coped without them. I just kept firmly in my mind that I was never going to smoke another cigarette again, from day one. And I stuck to that.

I stopped the e-cigs by firstly, not taking them out of the house -ever.

Then I set a date to buy no more cartridges and stuck to it.

I'm now 16 weeks in and feeling good.

Good luck. Do what works for you, one cigarette at a time.

I had a little spell using these. There great for so long, The only negative with them is that they probally last less than buying a pack of 20 cigarettes. The reason is when u smoke a cigarette u put it out when it gets to the end but with these u don't know when u have had 1 cigarette... I just ended up puffing away on it for about 15 minutes a time. I also got very clinging to it at all times just like with cigarettes.

I know someone who had to give up smoking for health reasons and is now addicted to these.

I would say its ok for a tempory fix but its a bad idea in all because you will still be spending the same amount of money maybe more?

Your health is not going to improve that much because you are still putting nicotine in your body. The only plus sign for this is that it dosen't contain all the other harmful ingredients and that it does not smell.

Sorry I don't want to be negative or put you down but I would personally avoid it or use it for tempory fix and then try cutting these out of your life. These e cigs are still addictive!

Take it easy Zoe and keep reminding yourself why you are doing this. It will be difficult at times especialy in the first week but grit your teeth and be strong.

You can do it!

Just take it one minute/hour/day at a time. Don't look at the long term, just worry about getting through the next hour.

First let me say I fully believe you should do whatever you feel helps you to quit, and if an e cig works for you then go for it. What follows is just my opinion!

My feeling is that 99% of a successful quit is not breaking the nicotene addiction, but breaking the subconscious habit of smoking. If, when you are finding the quit tough, you do something that looks like smoking, feels like smoking, and delivers nicotene then you are still keeping that habit going even if you aren't smoking an actual cigarette.

So my advice would be to try not to become too dependent on it. The sooner you can break those associations - get through good times and bad without a cigarette in your hand - the sooner you can be completely free.

You're doing great. One day, one hour at a time is all you have to worry about, like Mark said. Hang in there!!

Totally agree with Hels. I cant see how an e Cig will help. All you are effectively doing is quitting the other chemicals that are in cigs. You are still "smoking" and inhaling nicoteen.

I "can" see how NRT would work for some but maybe in the form of a patch or gum would be better.

Cheers and good luck.

You can get e-cigs without nicotine

but you still arent breaking the association with the smoking action.
