Finding myself in a very strange place......scary.

First perhaps my history.... Psych patient for Major Depressive Disorder, with permanent disability status and psych treatment etc.... smoked 40 a day for 20 years... just reached 12 clean days 8 minutes ago... quitting with Champix.

Been having increasing issues with sleeplessness and having really tough withdrawals the past 2 or 3 days. And the Champix dreams are getting stronger. Feel like I am failing. Am very dizzy and confused all the time. Worse withdrawals than at the start. Anybody else experienced things this way? Depression suddenly really getting to me too. Anxiety attacks, tearfulness, instability.....

Been doing my best to just 'hang in there', but it feels like it's all just getting too much and wearing me down. Sooooooo tired!! Please help.....

Hi Shanita,

You aren't alone here. I'm struggling with depression for the first time in my life since quitting. I didn't take champix so can't comment on that. If I was you I would go to see my doctor. I feel exactly the same apart from the sleeplessness. I could sleep on a clothesline. A lot of people suffer from depression when they quit.

Hi Shanita.Im sorry you are really going through a tough time.I dont know anything about Champix and have never had it and think Unas suggestion of going to the docs is a good idea.Days 9 to 12 seem to be really hard for some reason not only the temptations but also horrid weird side effects. Its made me realise just how poisonous and toxic(both mentally and physically) smoking actually is.Tobacco manufacturers should be done for Crimes against Humanity.Your body is detoxing try and have a bath or shower every day and try drinking green tea.Hopefully your horrendous experiences will strengthen your resolve not to smoke again. You have come this far so dont waste your brilliant effort.Stick with it.Hang on in there. All the best. x

Im feeling down too,but I think that I would feel like this if I was smoking.Life is full of ups and downs and they dont go away just by having a smoke. It never solved anything for me.

I would go back to dr too....you,v done it!:D you are a non smoker stay positive

And keep visiting this site,it has helped me just to read everyone elses stories..

Feeling pretty bad at around the 12 day mark as well. I am not using Champix (on the CT) but I am generally getting some of the effects of mild depression... wandering about wondering what the hell I'm supposed to be doing, spontaneous public crying... that sort of thing.

It's coming up to nearly two weeks now so I'm hoping it will pass, most of the reports I've read have said that the mood swings start to lessen for most people after a couple of weeks but I suppose it depends a lot on the person.

I'd say that if you're starting to think you're not able to cope then definitely see a doctor. I've also read reports of people reacting badly to Champix, but I'm sure others on the forum who have used it will be able to give more advice in that area.

Keep strong, hopefully it'll be worth it.

Paul

Hi

I would go to ur doctored as first think champix should not be proscribe to ppl who have or have had depression or mental condition. As it can start ur symptoms back up or make them worse. But it seems that differ t doctors think differently on this. Me and my mum were not giving champix as iv sufferd with depression and my mum is currently on anti d meds.

Another GP gave them to my friend who also has depression and they sent her crazy. Another dr said she should not have bin prescribe them.

Not what you're looking for?
