Things NOT to do when on a quit, for me anyway...

Speaking only for myself here......just for the mental exercise, these are things I've done in the past when "seeing how long I could go without a fag for"; usually after a chest infection, usually at work, never lasted the shift out...so it's also a list of things I'm trying to avoid, and have managed to, so far this last week.

1. Declared "I'm not smoking ever again".

2. Turned my nose up in arrogant disgust at anyone with a cigarette on.

3. Been able to see other smokers because I've sat in the smoking shelter at work, surrounded by about 40 people, all smoking.

4. Told anyone who would listen that it's a filthy habit, as if I haven't smoked in years, instead of minutes.

5. Made the decision while having a fag so the nicotine levels are full; it's easy to say then!!

6. Sat with an unlit cigarette in my mouth as proof that it "doesn't bother me"....it's always lit before ten minutes is out.

7. Carried fags around with me, "just in case"...

8. Gone from cigarettes to small cigars.

I've done all these things before, and bound to be others too, I've not done any of them this week, and I am now 8 days in....I'm no expert, this is just my experience...:)

Well done on going 8 days without a smoke. Onwards and upwards as they say. That list is so true of many of us!

:D yes it is true for many of us including me too:D. Within ourselves we know that it is not a good habit to smoke, but helplessly we started smoking and got little bit of addicted and then later we try so many things like this and control our mentality to somehow avoid being addicted to smoking.

Whatever works! I found being around smokers woke up feelings of withdrawal for me so I had to quit them too, which is sometimes hard.
