The positive points of stopping smoking

I know I am really good at dwelling on how hard stopping smoking is and the negatives so decided a bit of positivity would do me good!

For me the positives so far are:

[*]rapidly improving skin

[*]still being able to smell my perfume at the end of the day

[*]having more time for just doing 'stuff'

[*]not feeling like a leper

[*]not being ashamed of the way I smell

[*]finding out I had taste buds (who knew sausages tasted lol)

any others??

More positives

More positives include:

• Smell of shampoo on my hair.

• More money to spend on "nice" things.

• No more of that emotional flatness after heavy smoking.

• Feel much healthier.

• No more of that horrible taste in my mouth.

All in all - giving up smoking is full of positives

Benefits of not smoking

Hi,

I am on day 5 today and already feel much healthier.

I have a Zumba class tonight and am interested to see if I can breathe more easily, will post tomorrow to let you know.

I have already saved quite a bit of cash as was smoking 20 B&H silvers every day which is nearly £7 a day.

I definately smell and am starting to look better and agree that it gives you more time to do nice things. I have started having a bubble bath when I get home from work before cooking a healthy dinner and it is really nice.

The long term benefits are endless, money saved, health benefits and increase in confidence. If we can quit such a deadly addiction we can literally do anything. :p

Everything tastes and smells better

I can breath deeply and sing louder

awesome

I never realised that i would still be able to smell my perfume at the end of the day, but just smelled my wrist, and wow there it is! Thats actually a revelation!

Another positive, I went for a walk in the countryside last weekend, and it was the first time I took a big deep breath on a walk and didnt end it with a coughing fit - bliss!

Also my fringe isnt as greasy which means I can get away with missing the occasional day of hair wash if i need to

What a great thread id forgotten about the positive side of it .since quitting

im less stressed

can cope better in a crisis due to being proactive in finding a solution instead of smoking my way through it.

I dont have to change my clothes or wash them as often

i have a new pink tongue

my mind is quiet its no longer having to bother with when i can have my next smoke.

Freedom. im discovering what it is.

Generally happier with myself cos im

not self harming[smoking] anymore.

im a lot more sociable and not paranoid about smelling vile.

feel quite smug and proud of it

regained self respect.

I can now say i love myself and mean it

no longer feel like a loser.

I love this post!

The biggie for me is a new found concentration and ability to stay focussed on whatever I am doing. If I am with someone, I can be with them in a more complete way, because I am not thinking how and when I can get away to smoke. :)

I had honestly never appreciated how constantly distracted I was. This makes me feel like a different person.

The huge inconvenience of excusing myself time after time to go for a smoke, while making more excuses of the ammount of money I was wasting. telling myself how im addicted and i just cant help myself! ............... I Love being free from that!:)

*Money

*Rediscovering pride and self-respect for myself when I'm able to tell people I have quit - and mean it.

*For my soon-to-be bump and my son who suffers from bad chests

*Already losing the manky yellow tinge off my teeth

*No horrible smell off me

*Able to take half an hour extra in bed in the morning. I always told myself I got up early to have coffee and time to myself. Have only just worked out it was to smoke ciggie after ciggie to build up the nicotine level again.

*Sleeping better

*Tons more energy

*The day seems longer. Not in a bad way but I seem to get more done as I'm more productive.
