Day 9 is as tough as Day 2 - it's a Friday thing!

Why do I feel just as bad today as I did last Friday??

I thought this week might be a little easier but I've got that same tense feeling as I had last week. That same devil is sitting on my shoulder arguing that it'll be fine if I have a few smokes tonight with some wine - it's normal, it's my relaxing time, that's what I do every Friday. That leads to thinking that I should train myself to be a social smoker and then everything would be great. But I know that's not the answer, I know a few fags tonight isn't ok and I know that I will never be just a social smoker!

Is every Friday going to be like this or does it get better?!

How's everyone else doing today? :)

Fridays!!

I know exactly what you mean Sandylou. Fridays can be difficult. I now make a point of going to hot yoga on a Friday after work. It gives me something healthy to do & I can think of all of the toxins I'm getting out of my body.

Hi Sandylou

I can only speak for myself, but I remember getting some really bad craves in the early days of my quit and looking back they mostly seemed to be around the times when the old nicodemon had the best chance of getting me to smoke (if that makes sense).....normally on a saturday when I would be going out for a beer ect.

Perhaps a temporary change of routine, maybe stay away from the alchohol for a while may help to ease the "friday feeling".

Still whatever happens just stay away from that horrible nicotine....and remember it does get easier and is completely worth the discomfort.

Good luck.....

I have stayed away from social situations - I do miss seeing everyone but I can cope for a few weeks. I had a glass of wine last night and had no craves at all. It's just my usual routine of Friday treats that I miss.

I know it'll pass but I hate this feeling!

It's the 'treat' issue were we think we should reward ourselves - for working a hard week, for being on holiday, etc - and rightly so. There should be no reason not to reward yourself...just not with a smelly smoke.

If you can break the association that nicotine is a reward then you'll find that the craves become less intense.

You could substitute a different reward at first...for instance buy yourself a new top this week. If it's clothing then the last thing you'll want to do is get it reeking with the smell of nicotine.
