Day 22, but still emotional

I was very excited to find this website and forum. I have no one around me who has stopped smoking, so it is nice to have support. For some reason, I am still crying at the drop of a hat. I haven't yelled at anyone so far. But I just sit here and cry. Will I continue to have these roller coasters of emotions? And for how long???

Hi well done on your quit and welcome to the forum :) I never had any other quitters round and this forum was a real godsend. There are so many people who will give you their time to encourage you and keep you going when you feel like quitting the quit :) If you quit in December there might also be a December quit group you can join.

I do remember feeling very emotional and having bouts of crying and hopelessness which really isn't me. Its quite normal to have moodswings - I think it is your brain adjusting to not being managed by nicotine anymore and having to manage itself. That takes some time -for me it started to get better after about 3 weeks but everyone is different.

Are you using any aids to help you quit? NRT, Champix etc? Have you been to your local health centre. Mine ran a stop smoking group and I had a quit counselller there I could ring up. If you're getting very bad depression it might be worth having a word with someone like that or your GP just to check it really is quitting smoking and not something else. It will give you reassurance if nothing else and you might find some "real life" quit buddies. Quitting is worthwhile - the quality of my life has improved greatly but its not really easy in the beginning so stick with it.

Stay strong and good luck with your quit :)

TY so much for responding. Yes, it is very hard when no one around you wants to quit, and the non smokers have no clue as to what you are going through. lol. Today was SO MUCH BETTER!! I have not cried once today. This forum is WONDERFUL!! TY all so much!
