I'm on day 4 of my cold turkey quit; no Champix, no faffing around with substitutes :P.
I think the worst side effects are over now but the associations are incredibly strong. For example, every morning for 10 years I've got out of bed, made a cup of sugary tea and come to sit in front of the computer to drink it, read the news and smoke a few or 3 cigarettes. It's a little disappointing to come in here with my tea and not have any cigarettes!
On the plus side, I do feel some sense of achievement, having saved £28 already. I'm also pretty sure my blood pressure is lower when I go to bed at night. I used to be able to feel my heart pumping through my chest. The following morning, 8 hours without nicotine, it was kind-of calm. Well, now it's calm in the evening too.
Oh and the strangest thing from quit day onwards was the tingling hands and feet!
I think/hope I'm over the worst.

Congratulations! 4 days is brilliant achievement! I'm always admiring of anyone who can quit CT as I've tried to do this myself and know it is fantastically hard BUT once you've done it you've done it and there are no meds to deal with and no more nicotine in your system. I'm sure you're right the worst is over
Don't worry about the associations - tea = a cigarette etc. I was the same (in my case coffee) as is everyone else on here though not necesarily tea or coffee. These associations start to fade and in time you'll enjoy your tea as much - NO MORE than before (because you can taste it properly) and having a ciggie won't even cross your mind. Guaranteed!!! The way to do it is repetition, repetition repetition until your mind breaks the connection and it does so surprisingly quickly.
4 days wow , as for the tingling hands I had tingling everything for quite some time but it eventually stopped, its the oxygen getting into parts its not been in for years
before you know it, it will be second nature not to smoke, I was like you and smoked from opening my eyes now it doesnt cross my mind, I had to have a new bed though so my first lot of money went on that.
Well done. I'm on day 5 as well but could not handle it without the patches. It's not been too bad so far..though have been keeping busy all the time and am shattered by the time i go to bed! Good luck
Ah well, I planned it ok because I don't have to function at all this week. I live by myself and have a week off work for Christmas and New Year. So Boxing Day to New Year's Eve is all clear. I can mooch around, go to bed whenever I need to, eat, drink, watch TV, scream and so on, all to my hearts content. I suppose it's an advantage!
Big test tomorrow as I'm out to a party. I won't drink too much if anything at all, however, as that can be a trigger for me.
