Wow 8760 hours, 365 days, 52 weeks, 12 months or 1 year smoke free...
Using the 1 hour / 1 day at a time mantra I thought it might be appropriate to record this milestone in this manner.
Now, let me to tell you my story so far.... this time last year I went to the dentist, who told me he could see some white spotting under my tongue which would need to be “looked at” and whilst he was very careful to not say the C word the look on his face told a story.
So as I walked out of the dentist and I thought about all the things I might not be able to do.... that was it – no more smoking. I went home and told the old ball and chain and we decided not to tell our 3 girls anything just then, but the amount of guilt I felt was unbearable, long and short I quit there and then.
Good news was that my teeth were fine and no fillings were required, oh and as it turned out nothing to worry about in the spotting dept either.
Now the journey hasn't always been easy, but it has been totally worth it.... not to say it is over, every day it is getting better and better.
And finally to all you newbie’s out there....if I can do it anyone can so stick with it!!
Congrats on making the penthouse John. Bloody hell you must have been scared shitless at the spots, so glad you stopped smoking. It's funny a lot of people would have carried on smoking even knowing what those spots might have meant. So good on you! Grab yourself some champagne and send down a snowball for me (if they still make them that is ). X
Whoop whoop John, Congratulations on your first full year.
It is also lovely having you with us now in the penthouse. I too use the phrase if i can do it then anyone can and it is oh so true. Anyhow matey here's to the next year and the next. Keep up he good work
Hi John, sorry I missed your Day but welcome to the Penthouse, I am sure you will find it that cosy and friendly up here you will never want to leave  may all your future days be smoke free.
Well done John one whole year!!!! Congrats you deserve it.
Maria. x
Thank you all for your exteremly kind words, it is amazing to think that I have never met any of you, yet you have all been more supportive over the last year than almost everyone in my life, so humbly again thank you....
Also does anyone know what happened to Divingdale?
Well done on making it to the penthouse and your year around the sun.
Will only be very rare instances now that cause you to think of cigs.

Thanks MAH and you are absolutely correct, its funny but 1 year ago I would read posts from the longer term members who would say they rarely thought about smoking and I would think to myself "yea right" as it was all I did, all day every day.
Now however it is a different story, I almost never actually want a smoke and sometimes days or even weeks pass without so much as a thought....
So anyone reading this who might be early on in thier quit and unable to think of anything else.....trust me it positively does get easier
yeah i was someone that used to think i coudnt live without my ciggys :eek:and even scarier used to make so many reasons to carry on smoking thinking back i should have been locked up for those thoughts and talking today with my oldest daughter has made me realise even more that its def a mindset into thinking you cant cope without the evil things
so just remember that smoking is just a mind thing and the more you smoke the more you not only harm your body but and a big BUT you give the government yet more money of yours to waste lol
scary thought i know but think about it if the government didnt earn so much money from every pack of ciggies or baccy that is sold in this country they would ban smoking completley as its costing the NHS way too much to try and help the people affected by smoking
sad but true
Cheers Alex onwards and upwards into year 2!!
Absolutely right Carol, I am very pleased to no longer be adding to the Gov coffers
Thanks Phil
It feels good to finally be free from the 'orrible weed
The journey has been totally worth it......just hope I never have to do it again!!!
well played John for being strong enough to kick the habit and congrats on getting to 1 year, 352 days to go for me. I know two people who have recently been diagnosed with throat cancer and lung cancer, both still smoking. Never want to be in that situation!!!
