53 days, £344, More than 1,000 ciggies...

I've not posted here or a week or so, but I'm still here in spirit, and I'm glad to read that all the same names are around and doing well!

I've not smoked 1,060 ciggies now, which is more than FIVE duty free packs - I'd have been congratulating myself on the amazing savings that I would have made on "receiving" two duty free packs a couple of months ago, so that is quite an eye-opener!

As for the £344 that I haven't burned... £30 went on a Carbon Monoxide Detector (My OH blew 55 on a scale with max 20, and I panicked about the boiler!), but the rest is all mine!

So, given that gluttony wouldn't be a sensible option, and a passport costs nearly £100... what would you spend my £300 on?

(I'm still thinking that gluttony and £300 worth of pretty cakes may be worth it...);)

Hi Cathy,

Glad to hear you are doing so well, I am only a day behind you, I am putting the money I have saved so far towards renting a new house in the new year and with my OH quitting too we should have lost more money free each month.

Perhaps you could save your money for a holiday or break away somewhere?

Keep going strong.

Mark

Hi Cathy.

I reckon you should get the passport and a cheap break somewhere warm! Would be great as a reward!

I'm also just one day behind you. Apparently, I've saved the equivalent of £163 so far (fags are cheaper here).

I'm about to spend 50% of my savings tonight. I've decided to bite the bullet and register for a marathon next May. Cost 60 quid to sign up, and the thought terrifies me, but I have to see if I can do it with my new, fitter form from not smoking!

I'd definitely spend it on a city break, somewhere nice like York (assuming you don't already live there ) or Dublin (don't need a passport if you are a British citizen, assuming the £ means that ;)).

Nice hotel, nice meals out, sightseeing etc.

A bit of winter sun does sound pretty tempting... something to look forward to in January, maybe. How far south would I have to go for warmth? Canaries?

Barney... a marathon!? That is a pretty good incentive to stay smoke-free. :)

Jen... Heheh, I did live in York for a year about 15 years ago!
