Champix - Day 15-17

Hey all,

I wanna steal CathyC's line of Started week 3 and didnt even notice. I came in to work. Started my day as usual, i come to the forum and write my thoughts. Didnt realise its week 3 now...on the program...

Can proudly say i have been 100% smoke free for 5 days.

Its been good, i can feel a lot of differences already. Less to almost no caughing in the morning, i am not blowing my nose constantly when i wake up, can run with my dog without wheezing.

Has a street party Sat night. Now, when I say everyone on my street smokes, it can be taken that everyone on my street who went to the party smokes. It went really well. Up until about midnight, all smokes smelt horrible, like made me gag horrible. But i will admit shortly after midnight i woul dhave given my right arm to try one. Happy to report, i didnt.

So i faught the demon, and won this round.

I have found though, that taking the Champix with milk, whether it is in the middle of my meal or not, makes my stomache upset. I searched and searched for any body who might have found that to be the case too, but came up empty handed. Just want to let y'all know.

Thanks for reading

  • Well done, Samartel! Every day is another achievement! :)

I'm not sure about the upset stomach thing, but I have found that I prefer taking the Champix with a light snack than a big meal - a cereal bar or a slice of toast so it isn't sitting on my stomach for too long. Still, I guess that if you don't usually snack, adding in snacks might not be a good idea unless you are good at keeping your weight stable...

  • Good for you Samartel,

It is always a test when you are surrounded by smokers and drinking. Glad to see you stayed strong though because you can feel really smug knowing that you resisted. Just think how awful you would have felt had you given in ;)

Keep going you are doing really well.

    Lingy :)

  • Thanks to both of you for your encouragement

Cathy...i had water with supper last night and the feeling only lasted for about 20 mins or so. Could be coincidence, or maybe the meds and milk dont go well together...for me anyhow. I'll try water again tonight...then milk in a day or two and see if it returns.

Lingy...you better believe I walked a bit taller and my chest was pumped out a littel bit. I was proud that i could control it. That was my defining moment so far.

    Hi Samartel

Glad that you are feeling some benefits from not smoking already. The only thing I would say, though, is don't get too discouraged if you hit some problems a bit further down the line. It was only after a month that I started to have problems with my Asthma again, and went through several weeks of a really runny nose every morning (but not a proper cold). Hope that it's not the same for you.
