Well, I've made it to day 3. I've had some cravings (and had a hunt around the house last night for a stray one!), but breathing deeply has really helped.
I was fine at work, but coming home was another experience. I felt more 'bereft' than anything else, almost like a grief thing. Anyway, I tried my hardest to think about all of the positive reasons for doing this and then I ate a huge bar of chocolate!!!
This was the worst part, especially as during the day, I'd munched on carrot sticks, grapes, apples etc!!!!
So, lets see how today goes - thankfully OH is home tonight and I may need a nice, calming massage (and NO chocolate!).

Well Done Shellie for getting past the 2nd day even though I know it is easy to give in.
I wouldn't worry about the choc thing just now as trying to cope with the cravings are bad enough. You can be sensible in the 2nd week about food.
After today hopefully things will be a bit easier for you. Not to say you won't want one or think about one, I am 30 days smoke free and still think about it and still would like one but I know if I do I will be back to square one so I choose not too.
hi shellie day 3 for me too!! have not been to bad so far have taken to walking quite a bit, and seems like i have more time on my hands. been cleaning like a maniac this morning so not thought about smoking at all. hope you are doing ok?
The first few days are the hardest but you are now learning to live differently without smoking and first you need to get rid of the addiction and the cigarette memories and associations, don't worry about the chocolate at this stage but well done for being prepared with the fruit and veg.
Have a read of this link -and in fact the entire whyquit site, it pays to be prepared and have some idea of what may come to you.
Have you got your first week treat ready? Have you downloaded a quit meter, many of them tot up life saved, cigs not smoked and cash saved - just a little prod in the right direction at times.
Good luck, it does get better, it's worth it. And remember Never take another puff -NTAP.
Onwards and upwards Shellie.
