Now I'm not naive - I've read stuff about how after you stop smoking your appetite can increase.
This has happened to me in a big(!) way.
I don't need to scoff sweets and stuff so it's not a hand / oral substitute thing - it's just that I alway seem to be bloody hungry.
I reckon I could now pack away twice as much food as when I was smoking which is freaking me out !
Before I stopped smoking I was around 12.5 st - I'm now about 13.2 (in a month!) I'm trying to offset the weight gain by exercising more which should help - but what I wanted to know is :-
"Does the appetite thing level off ? Or am I destined to be the size of Godzilla by Christmas ? "
Regards,

I know just what you mean and yes it does wear off but be warned it takes a while and if you are not careful you put the weight on and although you can lose it again it does take some effort, so if you can watch what you eat now it will be better for you in the long run.
Exercise will help but quitting will make you feel so much better so dont worry too much about the weight as trying to do too much at the same time could make it harder.
Well done on quitting and this site will help loads.
It does level off. I was constantly hungry for about three or four weeks. Then I was just in the habit of stuffing my face, so it took another few weeks before I took my foot of the eating pedal and started to address the stone plus I had gained. But now my weight is starting to return to normal, so yes, it does even out after a while.
I wish I'd taken jamangie's advice at the outset though, because my food of choice for those first couple of months was bakewell tarts, werthers chewy toffees, and maryland cookies. Healthy I was not. Try not to make the same mistake I made and you'll be sorted!
