Grit your teeth and remind yourself of all the reasons you gave up in the first place. You have been going an amazing 5 months, incredible. So well done.
I suspect that there are 2 things going on. 1. then quit is no longer new and exciting and therefore you're getting that complacency thing we all have to be aware of - it's easy now so you don't have to be on your guard so muc. 2. Your brain/body are doing a last minute attack trying to get nicotine back into your system.
Don't give in. You have come so far. I wish I was as far as you are down the road. Keep going, please!
Craves are down altogether and not thought about a cig.
Down side put on a stone and a half, just starting a no carb diet.
but a couple days ago I bought a packet of fags and smoked 3 and threw rest away.
but feel like it again.why HELP.

Oh Terry, don't know what to say. Sorry doesn't seem right as it was your decision to smoke.
Why do I think you smoked?? Feeling a bit crap about putting on weight. Cause the novalty has worn off. Seemed like a good idea at the time??
You bought cigarettes instead of your rollies probaly as a subconcious effort to not fall back into the smoking you have always done (your brains way of saying you don't actually want to do this)
Why do you want to do it again?? Because your body is now craving the nicotine you put in it again after all this time. It will pass, you know it will, you have been here before.
You have a choice now. Do you want to go back to being a full time smoker?? Or do you want to go back to being a non smoker??
If you want to be a non smoker then today you need to choose not to smoke and continue making that decision every day.

Hi Terry
Read the link in my signature called the law of addiction, it may help you to understand the reason you are now feeling the way that you do. The important thing to do now is to make sure you do not smoke another fag under any circumstances, it is a slippery road back to 20+ a day and it happens remarkably quickly if you let it.
Also might help to go over your original quit reasons to re-motivate you in your quit - come on we are all here for you!!
You've come so far and done so well. Reinforce your reasons. Remind yourself of the differences between the smoking and the non-smoking you. Square your shoulders and keep walking away from that prison.
I can emphathise with you..I really can...It always make me shudder when i read posts of people breaking quits ..smoking or smoking a few and feeling what to do next!!
Johns post summed it up really! the slippery slope into smoking again ...no matter how much control of just having 1 or 2 a day you try to put into it...You will be back to square one in matter of weeks!! ......
From the bottom of my heart i put my hand out to you and say DONT ............. Now you have attempted to quit ..it will never leave you! you will always be in a place of planning your next quit ...A very dark place to be! .......like a rollercoaster of stopping & starting..Do you want to be that person? I dont think you do
..You sound miserable in your post!! I thought to myself that I was flipping miserable when i smoked & thought I was miserable when I didnt! I know now that smoking is a CON! Im not over it by no means being almost 6 weeks into a quit!! but I can tell you this much..... you only think you want to smoke again! Hope ive helped in a small way Good luck
Dont waste another moment on smoking, your lungs will be all pink and new and you'll be pouring tar over them. chuck them fags away and read some stuff from we quit links. start again quick as you can. mashx:eek:
