I'm getting so excited, off to the Red Sea on Saturday for my first diving holiday since quitting. Can't wait to see if it has made any difference, though it may be too soon. Just thinking I will have to treat myself to something nice at the airport now that I'm not a slave to the cigarettes in duty free.

Yes it makes a difference. Initially I used a bit more air (first dive only) as I sort of tested out my lungs - hahaha! Then calmed down and whilst my air consumption was about the same I was less tired and found carrying my kit around sooooo much easier!

Do you dive in the UK? If so we might know each other! I'm from Portland..

Divingdale, have to admit that I am a warm water diver, love the reefs. Sorry to you all for being stuck in the grey weather at least the sun is out at the moment.This is going to be another hurdle for me, always used to have a cigarette when I from came out a dive

The cig after diving: Yup me too. I really believe there is a connection between the dry air we breathe u/water and smoking. I found it really hard the first few times, but you'll get there!

Don't feel sorry for us cold water divers - we do both!! To be honest I got all the way through to Instructor only diving in warm water. Then I tried the UK. Hated it for the first 2 dives, and then something clicked. Now whilst I like (no LOVE) warm water, by choice I'd go cold every time. Less predictable and every single dive is different, and that's from someone who dives the same 2 -3 sights about 3 - 400 times a year!

But have a ball in Egypt and stay away from those cheapy fags!!
