I am new here. Don't really understand the site but I'm here anyway! Very scared actually! I plan to quit smoking tomorrow - on no smoking day. It will be about my 20th attempt at stopping smoking. I do failure better than I do success. Have smoked 20 a day for 30 years and now enough is enough. Am going to do it with will power alone but I really need support. Have looked in my area but there doesn't seem much help out there.I would do best with a support group type thing - like AA - where you can go to meetings and talk about your success - or failures at smoking cessation. Hoping to get and give support here tho! I KNOW I will DEFINITELY need it !!!

Hi Juliee

Welcome to the forum.

If you looking for support you couldn't have come to a better place - oh and many of us are experts at giving up on giving up so you're among friends!

There's a real wealth of advice and experience here. I'm a newbie but there are people here who have given up 2 and 3 years ago and still spend time helping and advising us newer bods.

Good day to give up tomorrow as I'm sure there'll be loads of encouragement about!

Read everything you can and keep coming back here to moan, groan, shout, cry or laugh and you will get through it!

best of luck :D

Morning Julie and congratulations on your deciding to quit.

I am also a new quitter. By using the forum, we see that our physical symtoms and mental farts are not unique to us. Others before us have experienced similar things and are more than willing to "talk" us thru our problems.

When you get discouraged, feel as if you are alone in your thoughts, log on....there is nothing more wonderful than seeing an old user of the forum post their one, two, three+ year quits. Lets us know that it is possible; that we will survive, that we will get thru this.

Cheers Julie and hope to see you in the forum again soon -

Jen

Don't be scared juliee, I'm sure you're much stronger than you give yourself credit for. Best of luck for tomorrow - I think someone has started a March quitters club called 'Mar ch chas' if you're interested - hope I got that right :).

Hello Julieeeee

Start educating yourself, I kinda fell into this quit and have been quit for 21 months now.

Read the links in my signature and tomorrow be prepared for being light headed and just read your way through it.

Have your treats prepared and your goals.

Get a quit meter so you can see how much money and fag;s you haven't smoked are totting up.

Small steps and just get there slowly and surely - no biggies.
