I'm sorry if this is too much info, but surely all the other lovely lady quitters out there will agree with me?? Maybe I could have timed this better, But I felt ready to quit.. So.. I quit yesterday (last ciggie thursday night around midnight) and should get my period sometimes next week, so I've got double whammy irritability!!

It's not even that hard not to smoke, it's just hard not to tell everyone to FO, especially my lovely, understanding sweet patient husband! He's beeing all nice and supportive and EVERYTHING he does is getting on my nerves!! The same goes with co-workers, friends, people on the street and in shops....

I don't know what to do to calm myself down?? I don't crave ciggies that much, it's just that I know that just one drag would calm me down..

I'm not gonna do it, but I wish I knew what else I could do...

Any advice??

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!

You have to hang tough. I know that isn't much use as a piece of advice, but stuff like this is always going to knock you sideways and if it isn't PMT it'll be something else. Just a couple of days, and you'll feel much better and VERY proud of yourself.

To cheer you up, try listening to this:

Lots and Lots and Lots of chocolate :D:D

I know where you are coming from. Look at the positive, get it out of the way now and you get 3 weeks off till the next one :D:D

Go out running.... or cycling, or exercising.... work out a lot and your body will calm down.... I do hot yoga, ashtanga or vinyasa is great, too.... I found that physical exercise was one of the only things that helped me get through those pms/pmt times.

Eating lots of chocolate is great too though ;)

Sorry it's been tough Jelly, but well done for not giving in and remember..

a) there is no just one drag - you'd end up smoking a whole pack and another and another

b) it wont calm you down - i know this from experience, 4 days in, bad time at work, thought "At least a cig will take the edge off" - lit up, inhaled - it wasnt anything like i thought it would be, didnt help at all and then i was annoyed about work AND smoking!:( 4 days hard work down the drain.

Hang in there - if nothing else you can be pleased tomorrow that you didnt smoke today:)

Or of course you could go the healthy route, in fact had I of thought of this first instead of the default chocolate I would have said this too :D

Note to self, must reduce vast volume of chocolate comsuption it is becoming all comsuming

One of the side effects of quitting smoking for some (most?) is to want to be healthier.... trust me though, whilst I was in the midst of quitting, chocolate, gummy bears, and wine ranked way higher than exercise ;) It's all a process.... xx

Thank you so much for all your replies! Talking about it and feeling that someone is listening actually made it a lot better! I'm gonna have a beer, see if that helps further more.. :)

I hate PMT :( I once tried to start a fight in a supermarket because they didn't have the pie I wanted. I still cringe as I must have been like a right old fishwife - god the shame :(

I can only think of the same old thing I always say - a nice warm luxurious bath. For me this makes everything ok but obviously it's not everyones idea of bliss.

Really hope this is short lived for you so you can concentrate on your quit :)

PMSL not about the bath, about the pie. hahahaha:D

listening to music

i find listening to music helps change my mood and calm me down.... or distract me if its a really upbeat song i love... i always have the radio on in the car, in the office....if u have an ipod or phone with music/radio..... just stick your ear phones in where ever u are..... and enjoy! ignoring all irritating things going on around u.....
