Hi carol,

You're not alone in finding it hard. I know a few people on here have had tough times some way into their quits. I'm glad you're feeling determined still, congratulations on making it this far.

Maybe you need to make a list of the positives, try to remind yourself of the benefits and what you've achieved, a bit like you set out your reasons for doing this when you started. Are you better off financially? Do you feel healthier, can you breathe better? Are you less scared of smoking related disease? Do you smell better? Probably all of these and more besides.

Even if you miss smoking, would you want to sacrifice all this to go back to it?

Maybe if you reinforce the good stuff you might start to see this as a good place to be, rather than feel like you're sacrificing something.

Hi Carol

Like Karri I haven't got as far as you have yet, but there are loads of people on this forum who. I think everyone has different issues and times when its really really hard and other times when it seems easier.

Stick with it, you have got so far, it's brilliant. I long to be where you are. :D

Carol, didn't want to read and run so I'll be brief and come back later.

Read, Carol. That helps me so much. I'm at the point now where I'm aware I'm having a moment but the impact isn't too bad. I follow the links on the signatures here and read an article. By the time I've done that the moment has passed.

Sorry - I have to go and start shouting at people so they get where they are supposed to go, when they are supposed to be there.

:)

Hi Carol,

A warm welcome to the forum, read it and feel a part of it.

I am just a week ahead of you, and am still having some days better than others, no cravings, just sometimes fancy a fag.

I have been at this stage before (never so long as this though) this is where in the past I have thought I had cracked it and could now choose when I wanted to smoke, to be a social smoker.....wrong, I can never be a social smoker, and anyway its not even sociable any more.

My hubby is away today for a few days with work, this is when I would have gone and bought 10, just because I could, but I didnt.

There is an Oct quit group Carol, you can usually find someone there too.
