Hunger: I have insatiable hunger and am... - No Smoking Day
Hunger
I know how you feel. I do think alot of its boredom / something to distract you!
Guess it depends what your eating, and how much a couple of extra pounds matter to you...
I'm trying to eat normally at meals and then only snack on fruit or veg, my desk is covered in carrot sticks, cucumber sticks, cherry tomoatos, grapes...
I'm not sure we should fight it too hard, I figure as long as I don't gain too much weight I can diet in a few weeks once the worst is over!
Don't chew too much gum, it makes you hungry!
I'm guilty of this too.
Besides the 'something to do scenario' i saw a post on here the other day about the brain not recognising we've finished a meal now as having a ciggie was a signal meal was finished.
We have to get used to finding something else to signify we've finished eating ie wash up, go for a walk, nibble on a cocktail stick etc. I tried the latter the other day and it seemed to work but forgot to bring any to work so desk is full of sweeties!!!
I was (am :o) guilty of this to. I ate ginger biscuits till all the shops ran out, well thats how it felt anyway. I have put on, erm, well I put on weight shall we say lol. I wouldn't worry too much about weight right now. Concentrate on stopping smoking. dieting can always come later. I am now going to the gym, well I blooming would be if I could shift the last of this flu, and have shifted some of the weight I put on.
Quit first. Diet later

Me too. Pear drops and popcorn are my weaknesses. But they have got me through some really bad times, so I'm not that worried. I've put on a stone since quitting  but I think thats because i never had that much of an appetite before, as I preferred smoking to eating. So maybe I am at a more realistic weight for me now.
But I did find an excellent diet on Monday. I had a stomach bug, and lost 4 pounds
Make sure you're confident in your quit before you stop the nibbling xx
Hi - I think the weight/hunger thing is always going to be a bit of an issue for quitters. It's best to accept the fact that you will probably gain a few extra pounds.
Me, since Oct 2009 (been a bit of a serial quitter) I've put on over 4 stone  from trying to quit smoking but hey it's all paid for
I've come to terms with the fact that my bum has it's own street name now. I've tried many diets along my qutting journey but each time they haven't worked, it's nothing to do with the fact I haven't followed them
I've come to the conclusion I wasn't 100% ready or comfortable with my quit to tackle the weight thing as I still needed that 'crutch' which was food. I'm now eating more healthier and have embarked on a running programme and feel positive about it.
Hey I might be a bit of a fatty bum bum now but as someone on here said fat I can fix, lung cancer I can't
What I'm trying to say is in your initial days/weeks/ months don't punish yourself too much obvioulsy try not to eat to excess like me but you've done an amazing thing in quitting smoking just cut yourself some slack and tackle one thing at a time. Good luck with your quit and be proud
Fatty bum bum - over and out
