I feel so guilty.

I got to three days and now I've just smoked my first cigarette after 3 days :[

I think it was a mixture of withdraw symptoms and stress I have an essay that was due a week ago and AGAIN I've left it to the last minute and it's final due date is tomorrow so I'm stressed that I have to do it in one night without the use of the library. And I have another essay due on Tuesday :(

I feel dizzy and shaky is that normal after smoking one cigarette after 3 day without any? :(:(:(

I hate that I can't quit and I hate that I now feel sick and guilty and I hate that I need nicotine so much. AND mostly I hate that I leave things to the last minute.

Hi Ayan

Sorry to hear that you have been unable to stave of that naughty nicodemon but if you want to stay with the quit start again as soon as you can but dont punish yourself over it.

It is quite normal to feel a little light headed but the main thing here is you are feeling guilty that you have slipped up. You have to ask yourself do you want to go back to square 1 and stay quit or rethink how the quit works for you, then try and work out how you could change things should you try again.

Anyhow, good luck either way

Don't fret, blame niccodemon! It wasn't you, it was it/him... who made you do that. I know, it sounds a bit silly, but helps me a lot to not think of ME failing when I have STRONG thoughts of smoking but being able to say its him, he's giving me these thoughts. Then I can fight back, cause I'd hate to fight myself you see!

I think that's normal and its one of the things I am very scared of, something that really makes me think 3 times before going to the store to buy some. I'd be terrified of this feeling as it would be perhaps too strong and I'd pass out?

I remember I did enjoy the feeling somewhat when its not so strong, like not having smoked for 12 hours and then light up, but not if it is like you describe. I once passed out under the shower after a surgery, if hubby would not have caught me I'd have drowned right there! Ever since then I am a bit afraid of passing out and would not want to be alone when that happens.

Sooooooo, don't beat yourself up over this. You just start over again whenever you're ready! :)

I agree with the others. Don't let it beat you, just start again. You can do this hun.

Sorry you've had this little set-back Ayan.

As others have said, get back in the saddle and have another go. Don't do as I did and wait 7 years!!. It was always "I'll quit tomorrow, next week, on my birthday... etc" and of course that mythical day never came!! Be strong and maybe choose to quit when you next run out of cigs. That's what I did anyway - eventually!!.

How did you attempt your quit? Was it CT? If so, then maybe using NRT might make things a little easier. Personally I'd find tackling the nicotine addiction and the habitual part difficult to deal with all at once. I'm using patches to wean myself off the habit aspect and so far it's not been too bad in the main. I'm nearly at 4 weeks so it seems to be working for me anyway.

Good luck!!

Don't beat yourself up about it, so you had a cig, anyone can slip. Just don't have anymore.

You can do it, if you really want to, you can quit!!!
