Hi Benny,

i have no idea why that happens, but i have experienced it throughout my quit too ( i am having a not so good day today and am wrestling with the idea of eating a tin of quality street and then a carton of mint choc chip ice cream *sigh*).

I guess we must look at the postive side of things:

1- at least not every moment of every day is like that

2-at least we DO have good days

3-despite those feelings, so far we have remained smoke free

Hang on in there.

Claire.

Sadly I have no idea why :(

I suppose its all part of the mood swings and dealing with 'bearevement' orr whatever it is that we feel when we quite smoking.

If you want to get home and eat 10 pounds of ice cream and some bacon then do it! if it makes you feel guilty.. go for a run! you will most likely feel better after the icecream and definately better after the gym!

Now - how would you feel after a cigarette?

Good 3 points Claire.

Hi Benny, not sure why it seems that bad days follow good, but I would recommend holding on to the positive feelings during the good day to help you get through the bad days. You will find that the bad days become less and less as you progress.

You are doing really well, stay strong and you will soon start to feel all the wonderful benefits of not smoking.

Hi, I seem to remember that after a period of real up-beat days, down days always followed, not because they were particularly down, they were probably just normal days, but they didn't give us that rush of feel good that the up-beat days gave us (does that make sense?). A bit like the high of being on holiday, and then coming back home to real life.

When we're quitting, we are so happy for the good days, not to feel bad craving etc. that they seem all the more prominent.

We have always had up and down days, smoking or not, so i'm sure it's not all to do with the quit.

Stay positive and go eat that ice cream and bacon, or even ice cream with bacon, why not!?

Lorraine :)
