Quit smoking 101

No miracle cures here or too many words of wisdom. I have just reached 101 days without a cigarette. So, well into my fourth month now. Another milestone reached and my quit is going strong.

I have to admit though that i am still not finding it easy. I still get cravings and some real empty feelings which are hard to shake off. Despite these bad feelings though i am not tempted to give in and smoke.

well done you - 4 months - you should be really pleased. Some peeps on here have said things have started to get easier after 6 months? I don't know though as I just missed out on the 6 month mark.

You're doing great though - I do know what you mean though about the empty feelings and loneliness. Maybe you could take up a new hobbie? Sorry I cannot offer any words of wisdom!

Keep fighting those cravings and keep up the great work

:)

Congratulations James!

I believe that empty feeling is a period of mourning for losing something from our lives... time is the best healer of all... and like anything missing from our lives all of a sudden - an adjustment and realignment period is necessary... that's what I think anyway!

Congrats again James!!!!

Well done to you James.

I too have opften seen people say that it gets easier after 6 months but have not had the priveledge of getting there myself....yet. In 2 months you can tell us it indeed does ;)

The feelings you describe will fade & lesson in time I am sure. When you feel like that try hard to focus on all the positives from kicking the evil weed & laugh in it's face :p

James, Well done so far, and we all know that it is not easy, but stay in there and don't give in to any of the urges, and believe us when we say that you are very near the point when the urges stop. Drink lots of water and exersise (walking) when you get the empty feelings (watch for mild depression). But well done James and keep posting.

I've been pretty busy at work for the last few days and it certainly helps to keep my mind off of cigarettes. I'm feeling good just now.

Saying that, a new guy just started working with me today. He smokes a pipe, something i haven't seen anyone do for a very long time. I don't have any problem being around smokers but i must say that the pipe has a very strong smell of tobacco. Unfortunately it is not an unpleasant smell for me, although the smell of the guy after he has finished smoking it is.

Feeling healthy and confident :)
