Right its day two morning of and my lungs have been working overtime to get rid of the crap in there, have been coughing very hard since getting up at 7am. Also feel very rough as if I have smoked forty fags along with a bottle of wine. Don't want to smoke at all just feel groggy, nothing a good long walk with dog won't sort I guess.

Yeah a bit of fresh air and a walk will help clear your lungs out. I seem to remember it doesn't take that long. Well done keep going it's so worth it.

Hi, hope you managed your long walk with the dog. (mine is looking at me now just waiting). If you are doing this without NRT then all the nicotine will be out of your body by day 3, isn't that amazing. Your body and mind will need some more time to recover, but as FA said you are soooo worth it.

Hi Bev

Did a ninety minute walk with the dog, poor thing does not know whats hit her since Monday she is exhausted. I am using the patch but still like to think that nicotine levels are nowhere as high as when smoking and carbon monoxide levels falling fast. Sorry to hear about your cough Jane, every time I cough try to think how wonderful that my lungs are getting rid of all the toxins there. The human body, tis a marvellous thing. Today hard though.

Last time I gave up I got that cough too. I ended up having to go to the doctor and getting a cough suppressant after about a week. It was pretty scary how much brown and black speckled gunk came up.

I haven't started with the cough this time yet... I'm hoping that since it's only 2 years that I've been smoking again (instead of the 20-odd last time) that it won't be as bad this time!

Well done getting to day 2!! :)
