.....but I will do it. Have given up once before on patches and stayed off for eight months. That was four years ago always said I would do it again and now the time has come, it's my fortieth birthday present to myself. I am like a cat on a hot tin roof today though can't sit still have basically spent the day going, think I am highly strung about it all and now just want to get started. Have done the Nicorette Activestop programme so have started preparing a week ago but useless lot have not sent the e-mail on my last smoking day so feeling a little unbalanced.
Day 1 tomorrow ANXIOUS EXCITED SCARED.. - No Smoking Day
Day 1 tomorrow ANXIOUS EXCITED SCARED..
Hi
I'll be on day one tomorrow too... that's the day I've picked as my quit day... day 10 on Champix.
I gave up for my 40th birthday... and lasted 2 years before I caved in and stated smoking again... this time it's for good... I know just how much damage 'just the one' can do!
Tomorrow we wake up non-smokers!
Cantante
oh cantante that's great we can be giving up buddies have just had my last cig so thats it. Can we check in every day with each other. For me there is no option I have to give up so lets go for it. Good luck to us both for tomorrow.
Good luck to the both of you...
I armed myself with a few "tools" to help me get through the first few weeks (I'm just at the end of week 2) and I'd highly recommend you get yourself a copy of the Allen Carr CD's and/or his book "Easy Way to Stop Smoking". The Max Kirsten hypnotherapy sessions on either CD or as an iPhone app are also another excellent way to help beat the cravings.
Listening to the sessions on the way to and from work has really helped keep me off the fags and after trying to quit more times than I can remember I think they've helped enormously.
Yay... quit buddy!!!
I've just been out and smoked my final fag... tasted disgusting and left me feeling sick (another positive effect of the Champix!) I managed to eek out my baccy today so that I used the last crumbs to make it and have cleared out my handbag of all other associated smoking paraphernalia. I now have a non smoking handbag!
Bring it on....!!!
One hour and eight minutes in.
Well by now I would have smoked three cigarettes and soon be off on school run stinking of fags! Have my patch on and already feeling free. Know the day is not gping to be easy but am so determined to suceed. My little girl is very proud of her Mummy.
Good luck, it is difficult at first but it does get easier. Keep reading and come on here to vent.
M
Good luck to the both of you. Post often and read the links in peoples signatures about the addiction and quitting - education is the key.
Thank you both for words of support really does help.
Anneke, it isn't just your little girl who'll be proud! Well done you on quitting, and don't you smell lovely!!
Keep positive, and always remember you're not alone in this, post often, read lots, smile often and enjoy the benefits of the new smoke free you.
Keep in touch,
Lorraine
Thank you Lorraine, words of encouragement really appreciated. Now five thirty and have not smoked, feeling a bit thick headed and a little jittery but otherwise not as bad as I had believed it would be. And yes its great to know I don't smell like a dirty over loaded ashtray and that my body is starting the healing process after years of abuse from cigarettes.
