I’m 20 and my dad and mum both smoked from when I was about 5 to about 12. Well....mum gave up when I was 12, and dad continued and gave up last year, when i was 15. My brother, 25, smokes pretty heavily and all my English relatives smoke a lot too. Although I don't smoke, I know lots of quitting stories. My dad tried to go cold turkey, got awful cravings, refused to wear patches, and was generally really unpleasant to be around. After that he took up again. His second attempt to quit he cut back and ate a LOT of chocolate. He gained a bit of weight, but we didn't even mention it because we'd rather he be chubby than have smoke filled lungs. He succeeded but occasionally would have one, like one a week. Now he has finally stopped for good and hasn't even been eating a kilo of chocolate a day... lol. my brother's girlfriend also smokes, and she has tried going cold turkey and it doesn't seem to work. I think your best bet would be to use pre-quit patches then the actual patches and give into your cravings for food, which cares if you gain a bit of weight. I wish you luck, and I’ll be praying for you that you succeed :)
