Am back from my holidays - eventually. All going well until a certain Icelandic volcano spewed ash all over Europe. So there I was in USA, flight cancelled, had to get out of hotel, and am STRESSED as to what I'm supposed to do (some may see being stranded on holiday as a good thing - but as a project manager I like to have some control - In the past I woudl have reached for the cigs and it would have been SMOKE SMOKE SMOKE. But not this time. I didn't even think of them - and I'm so pleased about that.
Also again - travelling as a non smoker is SO BRILLIANT! The flights were just great.
Its going to be 8 months on Friday - WOW! This really is my new normal!
Hope everyone else is doing well.

Hi Atomicguy
welcome back to blighty !!!!
Well done for not smoking under those stressful terms ....... really pleased for you now mate knowing that before you quit you would have turned to the nicotine...but now you know that no matter how stressful life is Cigs don't help or get you through it ....... ....glad you have got to the point in your quit that you know you no longer need the little bar stewards
A heck of a stressy time, and worse yet.. caused by Ash.
There is definitely an empowerment for having not smoked through that, but even more because you didn't contemplate it. If you even did think cigarettes it would have been more in a past-tense, but it does seem like you got this under control now.
Huge difference to how you felt towards the end of last year isn't it !!.. hard to believe its more than 4 months ago now that i first messaged your visitor page.. we both had some rocky times in our quits late in the year, but now we are through that and spring is finally here.. things are so much different.. and with alot more clear focus.. uninterrupted by constant urges to smoke.
I like that.. and i know you do too.. so well done and welcome back
Bradders posted a link to some stunning pics of that volcano eruption though, so although it caused you some upset, the pics are still to be marvelled at..
I hope after all the ash and bad bits you still had a stunning holiday, were did you go, somewhere warm and sunny I hope we could all do with some long term sunshine I think now even though its good today.
Keep your quit strong but it doesnt sound like you have a problem where thats concerned.
Have a long and smoke free quit, huh of course one goes with the other I am a ta tar arent I ???
Well done you, to not have even thought about them is great, I have to admit there are still many times they are in my thoughts, but hey if they are only in my thoughts and not in my mouth that's gotta be good!
I just had a look at the amazing photos that Jase has given you the link for and found many more attached to other people's comments further down the page, you might like to take a look at them, they are terrific - one in particular, scroll to bottom of page and choose page 2 under the name Sverrir Thor, they are huge and amazing.
:)Thanks for all the replies guys - really appreciate the continued help support and good feeling. It certainly is appreciated very much.
Thos photos are amazing!
Just for info - went to Vegas and New York. On a smoking front Vegas was OK - all the casinos have such brilliant air cons that you don't smell anything. New York was great - no smoking anywhere. Was stuck in New York and it was rainy and cold. So when the volcano hit and we couldn't get out for a week went to Walt Disney World for 85c temperatues and sun.
