I'm a newbie on this site and just wanted to introduce myself and get some advice from ppl quitting with champix
I'm on day 5 of Champix and so far I've had slight nausea and VERY strange dreams. I am smoking slightly less (usually average 20 a day as standard but now about 15 a day) but am really worried that because I havent had the bad side effects others have described im not going to be able to quit. When I do smoke I am smoking less of the cigarette because I feel a bit sick.
Is it usual to still want to smoke and not feel much difference on day 5?
I'm hoing that as I continue to take two doses a day there will be a noticeable change??
It would be really nice if there was someone else on this forum that is at a similar stage of Champix as I am as it would be great to share experiences as we progress!

Firstly i'd like to congratulate you on choosing to quit, so well done you.
I quit using champix, not had a cig for 12 weeks now, not even a cheeky puff of one, i smoke right upto day 14 although, from about day 10 i was down to about 3 a day then on day 13 and 14 i had just 1 cig, it was like i was frightened to give up that last cig. I have got to say i did have a rough time using champix, but i kept at it, but on a plus side i didn't get any cravings, just the idea of having a cig.
Good luck with it, and try keep at it no matter how tough it gets, it's worth it in the end.
I also stopped using champix, i got to day 13 smoking exactly the same amount and having no side effects, no real inkling to give up either. Then thought i'd better give it a go, so threw them away day 14, not smoked since, that was 4 weeks ago tomorrow. Don't worry if you don't get bad symptoms, i was told i'd start to feel ill but i didn't, i gather its different for pretty much everyone but champix has really helped me. Very best of luck to you.
I'm also quitting using Champix. I smoked up to day 14 - I hadn't cut down and they didn't taste funny. Had my last ciggie on the night of the 7th and haven't smoked since - 6 days smokefree
Don't try and rush it - I got really stressed on the first week I was taking it as I felt like I was smoking more. You need to just focus on your quit date and go with it. If you smoke less great, if you don't then don't panic.
I've had no real side effects apart from a bit of nausea if I haven't eaten enough before taking the tablet and the odd headache but I have had some great dreams
Congratulations on deciding to give up and good luck for your quit date - though I'm sure you'll be fine.
I agree with all that has been said. I smoked until day 14 and then stopped - that was 7 weeks ago. Just a few side effects but nothing to worry about.
I was sceptical about joining this site but all your feedback makes me feel like i'm not useless for not just quitting cold turkey and like there is a support network here for me
I think you are all right, I should just go with it and not stress about it.Just seems a bit to good to be true that on my quit day this smoking nightmare will just stop but i am going to believe it and I WILL QUIT!
Starting to feel quite excited about being a non smoker in 8 days!!!
I have been reading through old posts on this site and I keep coming across references to Allen Carr's book and was wondering if anyone had found it useful? Think it might me a useful weapon to use alongside Champix?
Also I take back what I said about not having too bad side effects... felt so sick for the past 2 hours and a killer headache!
BUT 3 months of side effects vs health/ freedom/ no more moaning family members/ being able to breathe/ no fear of exercise due to lungs/ smelling fresh/ extra £200 a month/ not having to pack my mouth with chewing gum before letting my boyfriend kiss me...... bring on the side effects!
I have just started a new group called the Champix Crew - an open invite to all. Thought it would be good to share our experiences re Champix and help those who are suffering side effects or have concerns.

Hi Laurajade,
Well done you on your decision to quit the evil weed LOL.
You are in no way useless for using NRT. A quit is a quit & that's what matters
Hi Laura there is only one thing that is important and that is that you are quitting, cant comment on any of your side effects but you are lucky cause Steph will be able to give you the lowdown on Champix as she is upfront of you and I wish I could have had some one in front of me that could have guided me through what I was feeling at different stages.
You have picked a brilliant forum so keep posting and reading and dont be afraid to come and say how you feel good luck x
