Only my second day on this site and day 8 of my quit. I wish I'd joined here earlier and progressed through the forums with the same users from day one!!
With that in mind, who else is on day 8 today and how are things?
38 year old guy, smoked for 23 years, this is my first quit and using patches here. Things not going too badly so far and only looking forward....
Later..

Below is my standard welcome and advice post which I try and give all new members
Welcome to the forum and well done on the decision to quit possibly one of the most important you will ever make and you will be losing nothing but you will regain control of your life and that has to be good
You will find all the help and support you need on here as we all help each other just like a family we are here for you every step of the way cheering the good days and sympathising with the bad but the good far outweigh the bad
Read the posts on here you will find a lot of tips and advice and in the signatures of a lot you will find links to other sites just click on them Here are 2 I find very good to start you off whyquit.com and woofmang.com Read, read and then read some more as the more you read and learn about why you smoked and about your addiction the easier your quit will be
I am on day 8 as well - using Champix, willpower, and this forum. I am a 48 year old mum of two, married and run my own business which is pretty stressful at times. I have smoked for the past 30 years 20-25 a day and I can't believe I am not smoking now.
I had a couple of bad days but generally things are great - I hope it lasts
It is nice to have someone else who is at the same stage. We'll battle through together.
Thanks for post and nice to meet you. I've never been a forum or social network site user before this, but this is one I can actually get on to from work so I mainly post during the day where it almost takes my mind off nipping out for a smoke.
Very interesting that you run your own business. My current job will fininsh in 2 years and I've started up a part-time business with my wife to take over full-time in the near future. Even part-time is very stressful at times!
Like yourself, things have not been too bad just yet, but I am finding myself missing the smoke breaks more and more each day. I've started a few new things to try and compensate - like coming on here, and squeezing an extra gym session in, plus just enroled to do a part-time college course. Basically anything and everything to take my mind of it.
Anyway, thanks again and like you say - we'll battle through it together.
same here, on day 8 n quittin using patches n microtabs, having good days then bad days but getting there slowly. glad to hear frm people who are at the same stage as me, any tips would be great. well done us
