this is actually my 3rd day without smoking i'm so proud of myself.
just 1 problem i haven't been able to sleep since i quit, when i say that i don't mean i'm tossing and turning i actually haven't slept at all. i'm not entirely sure how i'm still awake esspecially as i have just come home from an 11hr shift. maybe its the 3 coffees, 2 teas and can of coke i've had today (yes i am a caffine addict but i'm sure theres another forum for that).
please can someone reassure me that the insomnia will stop and i am not doomed to lie awake every night for the rest of my life.

Hi Angela no worries you will sleep promise can you cut out the caffine for a week and pattern will go back to normal as when we stop the caffine dose is stronger and the dreams are something else LOL
Hi Angela, firstly well done on day 3, if you are doing this CT the nicotine is now all out of your system. I know of one person who comes here who did have great trouble sleeping at the start of his quit, I will highlight your message to him and hopefully he will be able to give you more info.
However I can say that he is well on with his quit now and he is sleeping.
Stay strong, and maybe lay off the caffine for a while if you can.
Only thing i can think about is that you try to limit your lozenge use a bit more in the evenings by not using them for a certain amount of time before your time for bed.
I had bad trouble with sleep patterns at first but i was on patches and the answer to my trouble was not to use patches at night while i slept.
One of the 'possible' side effects of a nicotine lozenge is sleeping trouble , but also lists: nausea, hiccups, coughing, heartburn, headache, flatulence (gas) too.
other than that, perhaps try some light exercise to burn some excess energy too.
Its not pleasant with any lack of sleep, sometimes losing a few hours can exhaust you.. but treat this as as symptom and try a few things out without risking your quit. Your sleep will probably normalise again soon, but the worst thing you can do right now is worry.. because then the worry will keep you awake too.
