Although this doesn't apply to everyone, it may be the decider for someone who is thinking of quitting. If you smoke around others, take heed!stopsmokingtoday.com/dync/1...

This hit a nerve with me not because i smoked in the same room as others. (I smoked outside generally), but when i used to live at home with my folks, i would have been sat in the same room as my mum.. dad and brother who all smoked in the living room while watching TV.. and well, at that time, i didn't smoke.. had never smoked.... so it makes me wonder if my smoking addiction started much much sooner than the 15 or so years ago that i began myself..

frightening really.

Same here, but I never started until I was around 20, and because my new boyfriend smoked, and all his friends and I wanted to 'fit in'. Never thought about it before that, in fact I was quite anti-smoking because my parents did it.

Strange how things come about isn't it.

what matters now though is you are taking matters into hand and sorting your own smoking out. Get the tricky part of stopping smoking sorted first lozza.. then once you are comfortable as an ex/non smoker you can make choice to not sit in the same room as smokers or not.

When i go back home now for a visit, my mum smokes as she always has done, and it actually gives me a headache sitting in the same room as her now .. its the smoke in the room i'm sure.. but the best thing is i don't crave a smoke myself... and sure don't want to go back to that addiction state again, once you've quit a while the last thing you want is to risk it.
