Hi, it's almost the end of the week and I am on the inhalator, but like most people I have a mad appetite. (Mr Kipling).
I stopped smoking before but relapsed-this time I am determined. I have decided to have the inhalator just for a month and then be nicotine free.
I have a lot of mucus on my chest just now and the thought of having a cigarette makes me gag.
I found a site this week that has given me alot of inspiration to keep going it's called 'whyquit'. Some of the stories and photos are horrifying, but there is also alot of info' about the chemical composition of fags.
There was one where this guy was diagnosed with lung cancer and was dead 3 months later, and another where a 23 year old guy ended up having amputations-you get the picture.
Well apart from a rumbling stomach and a bit of irritability, things aren't too bad. Gotta make sure I dont use stress over a particular event to be my excuse (that's what happened last time).
Oh yeah, good tip for getting the gunk off your chest is pineapple juice.

You're doing just great most a week for you keep going
All the things you're feeling just now are normal but they'll pass OK as for the mucus this is just your lungs having a clear out from the smoking
Below is my standard welcome and advice post which I try and give all new members
Welcome to the forum and well done on the decision to quit possibly one of the most important you will ever make and you will be losing nothing but you will regain control of your life and that has to be good
You will find all the help and support you need on here as we all help each other just like a family we are here for you every step of the way cheering the good days and sympathising with the bad but the good far outweigh the bad
Read the posts on here you will find a lot of tips and advice and in the signatures of a lot you will find links to other sites just click on them Here are 2 I find very good to start you off whyquit.com and woofmang.com Read, read and then read some more as the more you read and learn about why you smoked and about your addiction the easier your quit will be
You're doing great! I'm on Day 11 now. I NEARLY had "just one" puff on a menthol ciggie in week one. (because I told myself it wasn't a real ciggie because it was mint flavour. yeh riiiiiiiiiight!). I'm so glad I didn't as the second week is easier than the first.
I know all about whyquit.com/ I read it a few years ago when I last tried to stop smoking and made myself read the horror stories. When I started to smoke again I conveniently put it all to the back of my mind. I might have a read now to keep myself on track.
I found today a bit harder, leaned alot on the inhalator (it has teeth marks). There was a lager in the fridge from a couple of weeks ago, decided not to drink it just in case the cravings become gnawing. It's the stomach thing I hate and my mouth keeps watering.
Think the mucus has thinned down a bit but still sounds like a death rattle in the mornings. I took the dogs out for the daily walk, and there is a place on a log where I used to sit and light up about half way round.
I sat in the usual place and sucked on the inhalator, then I looked down and saw a pile of fag butts that I had previously tried to hide under loads of mouldy leaves. It made me feel pretty bad. I picked them all up and put them in a dog poo bag. My hands and fingers smelt so bad, I just felt ashamed about it.
I think the circulation is starting to improve, my feet aren't like blocks of ice all the time. Well good luck to everyone who is trying to kick this horrible thing-I think it's harder than I thought it would be this time.
I will succeed. I think I will need to post in the next thread-the days are ticking by :).
