I went to a no smoking clinic and was given patches and gum. I put a patch on Tues afternoon at 3 o'clock. Wed, Thurs and then onto Friday I was wearing my patch. I then thought I could look on the web and get some more info on stopping.
The message I got was to stop using nicotine in any form and never put a cig in your mouth. Whilst this seemed harsh after considering it I thought perhaps better to stop all at once and suffer, but for a shorter period of time. So yesterday I took off the patch and will now do without.
I will put up with the badness to get to my goal.....nicotine freedom or rather Freedom fron nicotine.

Well done deciding to quit and on and you're now going cold Turkey
It really doesn't matter if we use something to help us people on here use whatever
Some NRT some like you CT others use champix but whatever we ise or don't use we all have the same aim to beat this addiction we all have
Below is my standard welcome and advice post which I try and give all new members
Welcome to the forum and well done on the decision to quit possibly one of the most important you will ever make and you will be losing nothing but you will regain control of your life and that has to be good
You will find all the help and support you need on here as we all help each other just like a family we are here for you every step of the way cheering the good days and sympathising with the bad but the good far outweigh the bad
Read the posts on here you will find a lot of tips and advice and in the signatures of a lot you will find links to other sites just click on them Here are 2 I find very good to start you off whyquit.com and woofmang.com Read, read and then read some more as the more you read and learn about why you smoked and about your addiction the easier your quit will be
I know exactly what you mean as this is what I did although I only had the patch on for 1/2 day. I felt so rubbish I thought how much worse would it be if I went cold turkey. Exactly like you it was reading and education that led me to this drastic step! Its not easy at the beginning but in only 3 days the nicotine is gone....unbelieveable isn't it? For me the hard work was/is the psychological addiction and there's nothing you can take for that. Only time and education can deal with this bit. I wish you masses of good vibes over the next few weeks. I never thought that I could stop smoking but Im nearly 16 weeks now and I feel great.
I agree Brian... Have to cut out the Nicotine...Cravings only last a couple of days...It's the brainwashing that stops us stoping... Allen Carrs EASY WAY! Can't thank that guy enough...It's uplifting to read and get's rid of the years of brainwashing... WE CAN ALL DO IT! WE ARE DOING IT!
If all else fails go onto the ASH website and read some of the sad stories. Harsh reality...Took me many years to face up to what I was really doing to myself...
Thanks for the replies and encouragment. I didn't mean using patches was wrong, i'm just impatient and want rid. I dont fool myself that the real battle is in the mind. I smoked from the age of 14 and am now 45...."not good"
I feel up for a fight against my enemy that I thought was a friend for so long.....
Started with the gum here, used 3 or 4 pieces and made me feel bad strange then went CT which I found was better for me. Just want to say for anyone quitting..... Anyway you can quit is great, don't worry about doing it the macho or strong or the way the cool kids are doing it , way just do it anyway you can.
It worked for me and I have no idea why. Perhaps it was just my time. Anyway good going Brian, keep it up.
