Hi everyone - I've been logging on throughout the week and reading everyone's comments... it is now 8 days since I last had a cigarette... had my last on new years eve. I've tried many times, infact last year I tried cold turkey twice (first on national no smoking day in March when I originally joined this forum). But I've made excuses to smoke again and with me, it only takes 1 puff.... so this time I've got patches and it's really helping. I have to say though, I've found it harder over the last 2 days than I did in the first couple of days!!! I keep swinging between happiness that I am no longer smoking and then a pang that I won't have another again (I know this means that I'm a total addict!!) - I so want to do this though...

Day 8 is great - you've got over the first few days and it will get better from now on. That feeling of loss kind of hangs around for a bit, it's just part of letting go. Well done on your achievement.
Welcome to the forums. Well done on you decision to have another go. Someone on here used to put "Never give up the quit".
What has helped me this time is that I have read a lot more (the links in Marg's signature) also I'm looking it as though it's my choice. I made the choice to smoke and now I'm making the choice not to smoke.
Well done and keep going? What method are using to quit?
thanks guys... I'm using the 16 hour patches - never used them before... I've tried the inhilator, the gum (which I hated) and cold turkey but then I would find an excuse to smoke because 'something' would happen to make me feel I needed to!
It is mind over matter, and at the moment, when I'm at work and I feel like one, I'm logging onto this site and reading a few comments - just a couple of minutes worth of feel good factor!!!
Well done you to you Tinks for giving up again - I have always said, never quit trying to quit! but I'm a bit sick of saying it and now I'm really going to push myself to do it this time... like you are!
