I'm not a Champix quitter myself but I've heard on here that sometimes people take up to 2 weeks before it kicks in and its not unheard of for it to take just over 2 weeks.

I'd just stick at it as it seems to work for pretty much 100% of people after that its down to willpower

:)

Hi Delface.

I cannot comment on your symptoms as I never considered that as an option. I have read that it affects everyone differently though so maybe someone can guide you.

If you are not happy and still smoking there are many alternatives out there as you probably know. i.e. NRT in various forms or cold turkey. After all, stopping the crap going into your body has to be the ultimate goal ;)

Hi Delface :)

Well done deciding to stop smoking I used champix and stopped around day 9 but we're all different

Still smoking on day 10 with it is fine don't panic please it will kick in it just takes a little longer for some of us OK

Relax live your life as normal and let the champix do it's job which it will I have heard of some that take a little longer than the 2 weeks to stop and they have been just fine

Most probably it will kick in the next 2/3 days and when it does you'll know Promise it does tend to kick in fast though for some and you may not notice the fags taste different until it does

The guidelines they give are just that a guideline no one can say for sure how long it takes because bo two people are exactly the same

Below is my standard welcome and advice post which I try and give all new members

Welcome to the forum and well done on the decision to quit possibly one of the most important you will ever make and you will be losing nothing but you will regain control of your life and that has to be good

You will find all the help and support you need on here as we all help each other just like a family we are here for you every step of the way cheering the good days and sympathising with the bad but the good far outweigh the bad

Read the posts on here you will find a lot of tips and advice and in the signatures of a lot you will find links to other sites just click on them Here

are 2 I found very good to start you off whyquit.com and woofmang.com

Read, read and then read some more as the more you read and learn about why you smoked and about your addiction the easier your quit will be

This link is good for the psychological part of quitting whyquit.com/whyquit/A_Sympt...

Post often to let us know how you're doing, to rant, rave have a moan whatever you like pretty much anything goes on here OK

Love

Marg

As Marg says don't panic, some on here went to day 14 before it kicked in. For me it kicked in quickly and I quit day 8 but I think maybe I did it too early and probably should have left it another day. Keep going, it will be ok,

Hi Delface

Don't worry - it's perfectly normal. I smoked up to Day 13 - and could have continued and still have been smoking now if I'd have waited for some almighty change. For me cigarettes tasted the same, I wasn't repulsed by them or anything obvious.

After about 10 days, I only smoked the cigarettes I wanted/craved, ie not the usual habit 'Oh I must have a cigarette because I've just got a cup of coffee type', 'Oh I must have a cigarette because the phone's rang' etc

Anyway by Day 13 I'd reduced the amount I was smoking considerably, so decided to give it a go at stopping. I decided that I wasn't actually quitting forever, just not going to have a cigarette unless I absolutely needed/wanted/craved it. And that's where Champix really kicked it, I've not had a cigarette since. I've thought about smoking often, goes with the territory of breaking the habit, but Champix has really taken the edge off the cravings for me.

Champix will help you but it's not everything,it still needs you to decide to stop smoking and decide to continue not smoking.

Good luck let us know how you get on.

Sue
