Morning all

Just a quick question - I'm on day 7 and my glands in my neck are really swollen and my throat is sore. Did anyone else get this?? How long did it last?

Thanks

Hi Col :)

Well done you 7 days smoke free keep it going

I don't know about the swollen glands but a sore throat is certainly normal for lots of us but it doesn't last long at all

Col,

As we are also entering our cold and flu season about now, don't attribute everything to be quit related though. Its possible it may be, but monitor it anyway. Might be coincidence. I had swollen glands but it wasn't major.. went after 2-3 days for me.

Hi col

I've had a sore throat as soon as I stopped too, it will pass.

As Jase says tho it's worth bearing in mind the season too.

Lastly, if you haven't checked out why quit, I would suggest you do the info on there is invaluable. I remember reading that as time passes and you've broken the associations and triggers with smoking - occassional triggers such as post infection will happen (most of us have a cold once a year) so watch out for the want to smoke more post infection. Apparently we smoked less when ill and as we started to get better the amount of nicotine we wanted increased back to normal levels.

To be honest, when I smoked and was ill, I often went to work and dragged myself out to the smoking area even when sick as a pig. My justification, if I was well enough to be in work I was well enough to smoke. I've also not had a real cold since quitting, so I know I've got the above to come.
