Well its my first time announcing this on here, and indeed my first day here, but not the first time I've tried to give up The Habit.
But, I've decided I'm going to stop. I don't need to smoke, I don't much want to either, and I will be far more use to my kids in years to come if I didn't smoke. So, I'm stopping. Currently, I'm going again with willpower and the knowledge that I don't want or need cigarettes, but we'll see how that plays out this time.
I'm looking forward to getting to know some of my fellow quitters on here in the weeks and months (and, with any luck, years!) ahead.
Good Luck to everyone!
Rob

Well done on the decision to quit a huge decision in itself
Most of us on here have had several attempts before at quitting I lost count the amount of times I tried
Below is my standard welcome and advice post which I try and give all new members
Welcome to the forum and well done on the decision to quit possibly one of the most important you will ever make and you will be losing nothing but you will regain control of your life and that has to be good

pdocherty: Thanks for the kind words. I hope that the Champix works for you, I can't say that it's something I've ever tried, so good luck with that

Well, since I had my last one at 7 am, thats about 11 hours so far (I'm still working to the close-together milestones!). If nothing else, I've saved the cost of 10 cigarettes so far, so thats something at least!
Welcome to the forum. It doesn't matter how small the steps are, just keep making them and they will build up soon enough. Post often and let us know how you are getting on. You've made an excellent decision and though at times it may seem tough to stick to it, it really does get easier.
Hello Rob, good luck- I have just given up again!!!!!!!!! too. I am on my 18th day, I gave up on 31st of August,(had last 3 ciggies that morning but count it as a day lol!) Anyway, this time around I feel stronger this time:cool: I am having more trouble trying to work out which thread to follow in the forum and work out how it works which takes my mind off the smokes! Anyway, Please keep up the great work, very proud of you and everyone else here. I hope everyone is feeling ok today. Ps, my doctor was very pleased I have given up!
Welcome to the forum - I am absolutely sure that you will find posting here a great help - the people are great! When things get tricky, it is good to know there is a place you can go where everyone understands and no-one judges.
Its a great decision you've made to quit, the road to success here is done day by day, and is rewarded in various ways along the path to being quit long term. If its not just feeling much more energetic, its losing old ailments which smoking was the cause of.. but one thing I think is the most rewarding is the feeling of well-being you get later on in the quit.. yet early enough for you to experience it so you want to continue on.
Please do use the forums here to discuss your journey to being free from the nicotine addiction, we are normal folk from various backgrounds but all with the one common goal.
