First time here...

Hi Everyone,

Well its my first time announcing this on here, and indeed my first day here, but not the first time I've tried to give up The Habit.

But, I've decided I'm going to stop. I don't need to smoke, I don't much want to either, and I will be far more use to my kids in years to come if I didn't smoke. So, I'm stopping. Currently, I'm going again with willpower and the knowledge that I don't want or need cigarettes, but we'll see how that plays out this time.

I'm looking forward to getting to know some of my fellow quitters on here in the weeks and months (and, with any luck, years!) ahead.

Good Luck to everyone!

Rob

Welcome

Hi Rob,

Welcome to the Forum!:D

I've only been a member on this forum for roughly a week and the words of support and advice have been invaluable!

I've not properly stopped smoking yet as I'm on the first week of Champix so hats off to you for using willpower!!!!!

Please come back and let us all know how you are getting on and just keep in mind the very real and valid reasons you have for quitting.

Best of luck to you Rob and hope to hear from you soon:)

Hi Rob :)

Well done on the decision to quit a huge decision in itself

Most of us on here have had several attempts before at quitting I lost count the amount of times I tried

Below is my standard welcome and advice post which I try and give all new members

Welcome to the forum and well done on the decision to quit possibly one of the most important you will ever make and you will be losing nothing but you will regain control of your life and that has to be good

You will find all the help and support you need on here as we all help each other just like a family we are here for you every step of the way cheering the good days and sympathiseing with the bad but the good far outweigh the bad

Read the posts on here you will find a lot of tips and advice and in the signatures of a lot you will find links to other sites just click on them Here are 2 I find very good to start you off whyquit.com and woofmang.com Read, read and then read some more as the more you read and learn about why you smoked and about your addiction the easier your quit will be

This link is good for the psychological part of quitting

whyquit.com/whyquit/A_Sympt...

Post often to let us know how you're doing, to rant, rave have a moan whatever you like pretty much anything goes on here OK

Love

Marg

pdocherty: Thanks for the kind words. I hope that the Champix works for you, I can't say that it's something I've ever tried, so good luck with that :-)

Marg: Thanks for the warm welcome, I'll be sure to read those links. I've had a quick skim already, and they look worth reading.

Well, since I had my last one at 7 am, thats about 11 hours so far (I'm still working to the close-together milestones!). If nothing else, I've saved the cost of 10 cigarettes so far, so thats something at least!

Hi Rob,

Welcome to the forum. It doesn't matter how small the steps are, just keep making them and they will build up soon enough. Post often and let us know how you are getting on. You've made an excellent decision and though at times it may seem tough to stick to it, it really does get easier.

Welcome to our merry forum :)

Its a great decision you've made to quit, the road to success here is done day by day, and is rewarded in various ways along the path to being quit long term. If its not just feeling much more energetic, its losing old ailments which smoking was the cause of.. but one thing I think is the most rewarding is the feeling of well-being you get later on in the quit.. yet early enough for you to experience it so you want to continue on.

Please do use the forums here to discuss your journey to being free from the nicotine addiction, we are normal folk from various backgrounds but all with the one common goal. :)

Look forward to seeing your future posts as you progress and please do ask questions when you feel the need.

Welcome once again...

Jase
