Hi all, well day 1 for me.on the patches, been here done it before, and have failed miserably, but i am determined this time, the constant drain on your pocket, the smell on your clothes and skin, the chance of heart attacks and numerous cancer has made me decide that enough is enough, so here we go, im doing this wih my girlfriend, also a confirmed smoker...........
so the plan is patches, ive got a couple of weeks worth of 24hr ones, alhough im just gonna be bwearing them when awake and will take them off at bedtime, so they dont interupt my sleep, along with multivitamins, vitamin c and some other supplements.
looking forward to being a non smoker, will keep you updated

Good luck, me and OH stopped smoking together and we are now on day 4, we have only had 1 argument but its all good now.
When me and OH are started to snipe at each other we have got a pact that the other one has to go in for a hug, not take no for an answer and say I love you. This is working and usually makes us o.k. again for a bit.
Glad to hear that you and your girlfried have made the right decision to stop smoking
I'm on day 3 of Champix but have never tried the patches (that might be the only form of NRT I haven't tried...), remember and come back and let us all know how you are getting on with those!
My fiance dosen't smoke unless he's drinking but he has promissed to quit them just as soon as I reach my quit date - I've told him that if he dosen't then he'll have to stop drinking (yeah right:eek
Baz, this is a great forum to come and let off steam and I wish you and your girlfriend all the luck in world!
Welcome to the forums, good luck BOTH of you, i'm sure you'll do it.
I'm on my 10th week of patches now, and remember every day/week i've done now, and have posted much of my experiences on here as i've gone on.
I definitely recommend when you get down to about 3 days worth of patches left, go and buy more ready for when you run out.. this way you don't get caught without them.
Also:
If you find you are getting bad dreams at night at all, really vivid dreams, then this can be due to leaving the patch on while you sleep.. i found i had to take mine off to ensure a good nights sleep and good sleep helps your quit as much as the patches themselves.
The very best of luck to you both.. look forward to seeing you post as the days go by or whenever you wish to post, i'll be an avid reader.
Well done to you and your girlfiend deciding to try again most of us here have had a lot more that 1 attempt
Below is my standard welcome and advice post which I try and give all new members
Welcome to the forum and well done on the decision to quit possibly one of the most important you will ever make and you will be losing nothing but you will regain control of your life and that has to be good
You will find all the help and support you need on here as we all help each other just like a family we are here for you every step of the way cheering the good days and sympathiseing with the bad but the good far outweigh the bad
Read the posts on here you will find a lot of tips and advice and in the signatures of a lot you will find links to other sites just click on them Here are 2 I find very good to start you off whyquit.com and woofmang.com Read, read and then read some more as the more you read and learn about why you smoked and about your addiction the easier your quit will be
This link is good for the psychological part of quitting
Welcome - and good luck to both of you! I have previously tried patches, and I am sure you will find them helpful.
My OH and I both gave up this time around and we have both found it a great help. We have supported each other through the tough times - and thankfully they have never coincided! When I am going through a tough patch, he is strong and visa versa.
My advise - talk to each other. Make sure you both understand what the other is thinking and feeling.
