Hi

Hi Stephanie

welcome aboard well done on making the right decsion, any tips hmmmmm just remember you are in control of your quitting dont let anybody put you off by saying "wont last long " blah blah blah that way you will just give up smoking to spite them and thats the wrong reason, just quietly do it i found when smokers who i used to smoke with kept saying how's it going Brian (hoping that i would say i was smoking again) i just answered hmmm not bad doing my best that way it kept them guessing until they got fed up off asking.

Another tip Loads and loads of water flush that crap out of you ..

so which way have you chose Steph ? patches ? Cold turkey ?

good luck today will soon be over and you have tomorrow to look forward to being a non smoker :)

Stephanie,.. cinders...

You shall go to the ball :) welcome to these forums :)

I'm sure you've probably read some already, and many on here will say to you to educate yourself as much as possible about what you are quitting here. Its a drug addiction pure and simple, nicely taxed and legalised by the government. So because they are so available, you have to make extra special effort to stay off them due to their common availability.

If you check alot of the signatures on our posts, you'll find some links to some interesting articles and info which you will probably find useful... when you get to those sites linked, do have a browse about on the other stuff they have on them sites too because they really have alot more than we could get away with linking in the small space we can in a signature.

Education while quitting is the key, but you need to be utterly convinced that you want to quit and that you are going to do your very very best to quit once you start too. Being positive and determined.. and heck.. real stubborn are very strong allies in an attempt to quit.

I'm using patches to quit this time.. and doing well on them.. others on here are using Champix(known as Chantix in the USA), and then there is folk quitting cold-turkey with no supplements. With so many methods out there, its a matter of finding the one that you firstly find that appeals to you most and then sticking to the plan.

Whichever method you are using.. good luck, and i hope you succeed.

Jase.

Hi!

Thanks for getting back so quickly...

Im going cold turkey, have been smoking for about ten years now (cant believe its been so long, in writing here its like I only just realised?)... Have tried so so many times before... hypnotherapy, inhalors, lozenges, gum etc etc. I have been a very frustrated smoker indeed.

But accidentally left the ciggies behind this morning and my OH said as I had been talking about doing it recently to use this as a sign... so here I am. Have bought Morrisons out of innocent smoothies and bought a lovely de tox tea which should kick start the feeling better I should imagine...

I think what I fear most is when you get that almighty craving (you all know the one I think), maybe tomorrow, or maybe next week and then you decide you will never be happy as a non smoker... Thats when I have always fallen before! Eek...

Phone your OH

Phone your OH now and tell him to throw them away before you get home.....

i found going cold turkey after a couple of days helped my cravings simply because i believed (and i can only speak for myself) that the sooner i get the nicotine out of my body the quicker the cravings will go especially as i was drinking gallons of water and to be honest it worked for me :) but have to be honest the cravings went but other symptoms hit you twice as hard for me it is sleeep or the lack of it i am the forum Zombie lol ............ good luck steph look forward to seeing you in Day Two folder tomorrow :) Steph you can do this you know just think in a months time your skin will be glowing and you will feel fantasically (is that a word ?) well ... the other people in here are brilliant as they help you out when you need it... just be careful of the spelling bees always buzzing around lol

Ah ha.... I bought valerian too to help sleep! For some reason I really believe herbal therapy could be the way forward??? Either way I cant cope without sleep... its a bit dangerous.

Either that or Im developing another reflex addcition to all things green and smelly.... hmmmmm

Speaking of spelling bees :)

Try fantastically ;)

But yeah, stephanie, you do well to buy fresh fruit juice in whichever form you get it.. those innocent smoothies are lovely. Can't disagree with them. :)
