How to stay strong.

I thought it would be important to share with people what I feel is the most important aspect in order to quit smoking. Smoking like any other addiction once addicted makes your body crave it. This makes you weak and cave into having another one or sad and depressed because you can't have one. Now what I have done in order to quit is take that craving as a challenge. My goal is round for round with with each cig craving until they are gone. I refuse to be depressed or let addiction control me. The point I am trying to make is in order to actually make it you need the mindset of you are in a fight (probably biggest one of your life) and either you are going to win, or lose and make excuses of how this happend and that you will try again. The final thing I have to say is next time you get a craving, get mad and fight back and don't give it the chance to make you feel bad. Because in the end it is all mental and you will win that fight if you have what it takes.

Well said!!!!! Thats exactly how i've took them too, it works.. it keeps you on top of the quit, and you get a hell of alot of self-satisfaction after beating each craving down too.

Every craving is a challenge, some days more than others.. but you do right to see the cravings in this respect.. they are perfectly natural to be experiencing them. You might not get a craving for ages on the first day.. then all of a sudden you do.. and when you do? be ready for it.. its what you started this whole process to expect.

No matter how hard it gets.. rise to the challenge and come out of your corner fighting. Ding! Ding! round 2!!!

Nice post, i enjoyed reading it.

Brilliant!

What a fantastic way of looking at it, I start my quit tmrw and will definatley take head of what you have said, I feel like I am in a good state of mind but as Jase said, these "cravings" crop up when you least expect it too.

Take care and thank you xxx:)

It helps as well to distract yourself. Or at least it helps me. I read that clove oil on the back of your tongue helps with cravings, and it seems to distract me by filling my mouth with that flavor. I bet it would work really well for someone who smoked cloves.

Having work to do really helped me today, and gum has helped in the past. I also looked up some stuff on the internet to understand the process and what I could expect. I'm about to go research tobacco companies to get some anger to help fuel things.

It is a battle. A battle to care enough about myself that I force me to tow the line. Very muti-faceted.

Good luck to everyone!

AJ
