So here is my story. My name is Joe and I am a 22 year old college student finishing up undergraduate degree poli sci/accounting. Besides school I am a foreclosure Realtor full time. If I'm not working or at school then I am either out with friends or at the gym. I first started smoking when I was 15. I smoked till I was 18 when I broke my jaw playing soccer. In order to heal quicker (plus lots of medication) I quit for 3 years. When I turned 21, the trip to Vegas was waiting. While in Vegas I had a few cigs and the cycle has started again. I have been a smoker for the last twelve months. I decided on Monday enough was enough. I have been smoke free for the last four days and I have urges but I will not give in! I've started going to the gym 5 days a week and plan on bulking up to around 225 (6'2 and at 205 now). I've come to the realization that I will not be consuming drinks or going to the bar for atleast a month. One thing I realized that has mad quitting easier for me is not letting my mind dwell on not having a cig. It does not deserve any one of our times. I am determined to rebuild my body into a bigger, stronger, badder machine like in once was. Cigs took away alot from me in this last year and 3 months. But they will never get another day from me, even if that means not going out and drinking anymore and spending lots of time in the gym. Yellow teeth, gingivitis, cancer, lung disorders, heart attack, stinky who wants to pay for that. The number one reason I decided to quit was the notion of having to rely on something to get through my day. I am a young man who is motivated to do rewarding things in his lifetime, and I refuse the idea of needing something that kills me daily. In my opinion I hope cigs are outlawed one day and this disgusting money making item no longer exsts. Best of luck to all and god bless!

Ranton,

I applaud your vigor and drive for this quit my friend!! You remind me so much of how i was at the start and during the early part of my quit. I'm at 7.5 weeks in now, already feeling tons better and my resolve? my determination? Well as i said i started off like you have put it there, but as the weeks have gone by.. despite the cravings i do sometimes get (and got a major one today while i stressed over buying a new car), the sense of wellbeing and extra energy puts a strong armor layer on how you feel at this point today.. and you really believe 101% that you can and will do it.

Keep going fella, call on me any time for help, i've quit smoking the same as everyone else on here, but the kind of energy you've put into your first posts, i hope to see much more of, it helps you.. it helps us... it rubs off it really does.

Welcome to these forums and the very very best of luck with your quit from smoking.

/respect.

Jase
