Hi everyone, I joined this forum last year and gave up smoking for 6 weeks, only to start again!
I have now joined my local stop smoking clinic and have been prescribed Champix, I am planning to start my tablets this Friday 28/08/09 and stop smoking on the 04/09/09. I am hoping this will be my last ever attempt at giving up smoking.
Good luck everyone and well done to everyone who has given up the evil weed! I am looking forward to reading your experiences and recieving any advice from people who have given up using Champix

I am using Champix - today is my stop day. It has certainly stifled the nicotine withdrawal symptoms and cravings, just not the habit reactions - that would be too good to be true. On the last couple of days of smoking, whilst I was on the 1mg tablets - the cigs began to taste horrible and I was not getting that 'hit' from them. So now, when I get the 'habit' craving - I try and remind myself just how foul they tasted last time!
Have had some mild side effects - queasiness after the morning tablet, headaches (although I am not sure whether they are from gritting my teeth so hard!) and just one or two peculiar dreams - but they are all so minor that, if I can make this work, they will so be worth it.
Keep in touch and let me know how you are getting on - it will be good to speak to someone at almost the same stage as me.
Hi Fay....I to am on Champix and they are fantastic....I did have problems initially feeling ill after taking them.....but as long as I take them after eating that hasn't happened anymore....try and drink lots of water as well!! The first day was a little hard but I think that was more habit as to when I used to have a ciggie like after meals ....now I do the dishes instead As for cravings they are a fleeting thought almost and are gone as quick as they come....I am 27:eek: days without a ciggie and I honestly have never felt better and I smell better .......read all the links that are on here in peoples signatures and in day 1 forum the diary of a champix quitter (as Jase said)...I found that really helped. Hope this helps a bit...good luck Kez.
I do remember you from last year congrats on your new quit. Im sure this will be the one. Not used champix myself but a lot of people say to eat a little with them it helps stop the sick feeling. Good luck hunnie post and read as much as you can.xxxxxxx
I also used champix after many failed attempts over the years and this time it has stuck thanks to champix and this forum

Thanks for all you replies guys, I am now on day 5 of taking the tablets and have seen a difference since day 3, the ciggies don't taste the same, im not that keen on actually lighting up and Im sure I am only doing it out of habit and not addiction!
I seem to have had a few side effects, sickness (nausea), sleepless, feeling low and the worst is being tired, I am drinking lots and lots of water to try and combat this. My quit date is Friday 4th September (day 8), so my last ciggie will be on Thursday evening.
I have read coalty Champix diaries with interest and admiration, I so hope I can make this work for myself and my family, Good luck to you all and I hope to stay in touch with you all as regularly as I can
Fay
