Newbie saying hello

Well today is day 5 for me and (fingers crossed) I seem to be doing ok so far. I have been a 20 a day smoker for about 15 (!!!) years and have recently started exercising more. I couldnt believe how difficult I was finding it to breathe when I was at the gym so decided it was time to take some action. I am using the nicorette inhalator which I find to be really useful, even when I dont put cartridges in it! Im finding the strangest thing to be that I am so used to smoking that I keep feeling like there is something I have forgotten to do.

Anyway, just thought I would say hello - was really pleased to find this forum as I think it really helps sometimes to have other people to talk to who are going through the same thing.

Chloe :)

5 days is already 100 cigs NOT smoked.. well done on your super start to your quit.

Feel free to chat here, some really nice folk about, and we're all after the same objective.

Keep up the good work, you should start seeing some noticeable benefits to justify your efforts real soon (if you've not already that is!), but its definitely worth going the distance.

if you get an insecure moments or anything you want to discuss, throw it into a post on here, and don't be a stranger.

Welcome Chloe,

and great job getting through the first 5 days.... well done! I hope you will come to find this forum as helpful in your quit as I have found it in mine..... great bunch of people on here! It is normal to feel like something is missing, something you have forgotten.... some describe quitting smoking to going through the grieving stages...... for a lot of us smoking has been like a friend..... except of course it wasn't a friend but an addiction....... making changes in life can be hard..... but it is very much worth it! Good luck to you!
