Hi Bman
Welcome to the forum and well done on the decision to quit possibly one of the most important you will ever make and you will be losing nothing but you will regain control of your life and that has to be good
You will find all the help and support you need on here as we all help each other just like a family we are here for you every step of the way cheering the good days and sympathiseing with the bad but the good far outweigh the bad
Read the posts on here you will find a lot of tips and advice and in the signatures of a lot you will find links to other sites just click on them Here are 2 I find very good to start you off whyquit.com and woofmang.com Read, read and then read some more as the more you read and learn about why you smoked and about your addiction the easier your quit will be
Sorry don't really know much about St John's Wort, but someones on here probaly will I think it's herbal so should be OK
Post often to let us know how you're doing, to rant, rave have a moan whatever you like pretty much anything goes on here OK

Hi Bman I am on champix and st johns wort. I had to reduce the champix to one a day after two weeks and felt really low so got some st john wort and been taking them for nearly 5 weeks and I have been ok.
Let us know how you get on
champix /st johns wort
thanks trendy - how far along are you now? are you finding it ok? ive tried to quit with champix twice before. Once i was doing pretty well, the second time my heart wasnt really in it. I really think im ready this time though, and can feel the champix working really well. Its just my 16 year relationship with smoking that has to be chipped away at now. the habit and psychological side of believing that I can and will be a non smoker for the rest of my life. it's a bit like having supported one football team all your life and then suddenly trying to put your heart into supporting your rivals!
Id be interested to know how much st johns wort and champix are you taking each day and whether you have found a good order / routine for what to take when.
At the moment im going with st johns wort twice daily and half dose champix,
cheers,
Bman
I quit smoking with champix on 13th April but ended up smoking half a cig so put my quit date to the 8th May and been ok since, that was when I started taking the st johns wort. I was taking 2 st johns wort and one champix a day now I am on half a champix and still the 2 st johns wort. Not sure if the st johns wort is what has made a difference or if it is just that I have got my head in the right place after that half a cig.
Keep posting how you are getting on good and bad and there is always someone to help
found this link which is interesting about st. johns wort and its help with quitting
Thats was interesting didnt realise that. Wonder if that is why I have felt a lot better this time round. Mind you got to stop taking that one day I supposse
Hi trendy, bman
Not on champix but still feeling blue so decided to try St Johns Wort, can you tell me how you're finding it? Am slightly concerned about the side effects that I've found out about. Also in your experience did it take 2-3 weeks for St Johns wort to start working?
Pretty sure this is just a readjustment period but this last week or so it's been a struggle to remain upbeat, positive and energised. Which has inevitable consequences on motivation etc.
Many Thanks
give it a try - its not very expensive. i've never experienced any side effects and i personally think it made me feel better within a few days, though that could have been psychosomatic.
im not taking it this time round as my mood is ok but if it does start diving again i will be back on em.
