Hi ahm,

I'm now on day 12 of Champix and to be honest I thought i would never be able to stop smoking even as recently as 2 days ago but urika.....with the help of Champix and this forum I have gone a whole day..so far, without lighting up, when ever I felt those awfull cravings today at work I came on this site and had a nose about and added to some forums, when I came home from work the cravings were even stronger so have just not sat down..washed hair, had bath, washed dinner dishes watered plants...house has never been cleaner, have found that helps, I also found writing down in BIG capitals reasons why I want to stop, am taking one hour at a time.........good luck

5 weeks and 2 days smoke free and I would not have been able to do it without Champix and a little bit of will power as well....Stick at it because i believe you are using the best smoking cessation aid on the market..

Hi Ahm :D

I'm glad you've not had side effects from the Champix

Don't worry about smoking the same amount for the moment, you've on'y been on the slightly higher dose for 2 days

They'll kick in soon now and then you should notice a difference

Any tips out there?

i started by stopping habbits in the first 14days of champix like no smoking in my car, not having a ciggie with a cuppa and instead of lighting up straight after food i would wash the dishes so by the time the stop day came around i found it a little easier than on previous attempts i haven't had a ciggie for 35 days now so good luck:)

Hi Ahm

Your only on day 5 of Champix, I smoked the same when I was on day 5, although I did try to cut the odd one or two out so the actual quit day wasn't that bad.

I never thought anything was going to happen until 4 days ago when I found I just didn't want to smoke, the mornings were bad though.....so be prepared and today is not a good day but we will get through it with the help of Champix, determination and this forum

day 8 of champix

im now on day 8 of champix, only 4 days to go until my stop day, still no different, smoking as normal, no side effects yet, none. thought i would at least get the nice dreams? waiting every day for some kind of change, i dont even feel sick in any way which most reports on using the drug seem to complain of.

anyone else take them and not have any side effects?

I'm due to come off my course of Champix next week and, for me, it has been the best thing I have used to give up smoking. I have tried all sorts over the years, patches, gum, lozengers etc., but none seemed to work for me, in fact I got addicted to the therapies after a while. Champix really calmed me down and helped me cope with the cravings, in fact it felt weird, I'd have a craving, but my brain would be saying "so what! who cares!". That being said, and I swear by this method (again for me), you still have to put the effort in. It isn't a miracle cure. It will help you get over the addiction, but the habit remains. Your mental attitude towards cigarettes has to be reprogrammed too by yourself, Champix cannot do this for you. I am a good few weeks in now, but yet yesterday after a family feud, I had a cigarette! I openly admit this and am telling you because this explains the how Champix cannot stop your mental attitude towards cigs. I do not crave anymore, my lungs do not ache, I am free, but for some reason in a moment of upset, I grabbed a cig. Only one, but all the same a cig. Why? Because that is what I would have done before I gave up. I have today jumped back on the quit, you have to and not beat yourself up. My biggest advice is, you have to rid yourself of everything, put effort in yourself, Champix alone cannot do that, BUT it does work. Hope this helps and GOOD LUCK! GO FOR IT!!!

Hi ahm,

When you get to the high dose twice a day it will really start to kick in, but you still need willpower and determination, Champix takes the edge of the cravins tho....good luck you can do it :D

champix day 10 - rest of my life day 1

Hello ahm,

I'm using Chapix as well - feeling very sick after taking the tablet but it subsides quite quickly, especially if I eat with it... also not sleeping very well - I'm on day 10 - but ANYTHING is worth it if it helps me break free from smoking. This is my 3rd serious attempt - even having cancer (all gone now) didn't stop me - in fact, it made me smoke more, for several reasons.

Today is my quit day. I've resisted with boiled sweets (they last a decent amount of time) so far... I'm not back at work until Thursday so I treated myself to a day out with my mum ('quit mate') and have been eating non-stop! Deep breathing (as if smoking!) helps...

Really wanted to join a forum with people at same stage and can't work out how to create a new thread at the moment, so thought I would hijack yours instead?!

Apparently my blood pressure and pulse rate are back to 'normal' now and my nicotine & CO levels have already halved... really looking forward to the hacking up that should come next..!!

nsd_user663_4696 profile image
nsd_user663_4696

Forgot to say also managed to smoke as normal right up to quit day (even though day 10) - although probably missed out a few without noticing...

Day 7 Champix Half way to Quit Day

Hi All - glad I found you as I haven't a local face to face group for moral support! I been given Champix as a ' last help I'm gonna give you to quit' from my Doc and upto day 7!

i am a little worried.... I feel no lesser urge to smoke! Did this happen to anyone else out there, I'm little scared this and my willpower isn't gonna be enough

Hi ' last help I'm gonna give you to quit' from my Doc and upto day 7!

Blimey, bit harsh from your doctor I would have thought!! I have not stopped with champix so cannot help you there but there will be loads of people on here who have & be able to give better advise on that. Maybe you feel even more pressured by your docs comment? I think I would. I would just say that if you want to do this you will, by whatever means you choose & that works for you. This forum id HUGELY supportive & the links I am sure you have been given proved invaluable to me In yet another quit. The difference is this time I am on day 22 (tomorrow) & have not got further than a couple of hours for about 15 years. I f I can you can!!! I beleive in YOU> Hugs Gaynor xxx

Hi Forest and Schrodingers Cat,

I'm on day 27 of Champix and day 14 of no smoking, the Champix will start to kick in once you are on the double dose, I smoked up till day 14..... tho as each day passed it got less and less and was actually down to just 2 puffs on day before my quit day.

So keep going.it'l soon happen for you but you do need determination as well.............Champix seems to take the edge of the cravings. I nibble on sunflower seeds all day and especially when I get a really bad craving.

Again well done and keep it up.....xxxx

Thanks

Thanks for the encouragement - kate & Gaynor! Have a feeling I'm really go to need it and this forum !

Yep the Doc is a bit of a she dragon! I've been reading some of the back posts on this thread - think when I go in for my repeat script - I'll just leave the link behind - she might find it helpfull! LOL

So glad there are people out there that are willing to share !!

So.... I already feel a lot better about the whole quit thing this time, more positive! That said I'm gonna buy a new bike tomorrow and give my lungs a work out!
