Has anyone....

felt more disappointed by the fact that they've left it so long to quit rather than the fact that they're doing well with the quit?

Been feeling a bit hacked of today and slept pants last night. Even though I've eased into my fourth week today I'm on a downer and thinking about the (irreversable? [spelling]) damage I've done to myself already by smoking for 25 yrs rather then the fact that I've gone my longest time ever without a smoke :(

I certainly do - but it's not really the damage to myself it's the money I have wasted that annoys me.

Remember Tim that a lot of the damage done to yourself IS reversible. I know that the body is a marvellous thing that has the capacity to heal itself and repair a lot of damage.

You say you have smoked for 25 years and yes that is a long time and a lot of ciggies but some people on here have smoked for a lot longer and are now feeling the benefits of stopping.

My gran smoked for about 20 years of her life - she is nearly 90 now and is still fit enough to get about and live in her own home.

Try to focus on the positive - you've stopped - you're free now - now start enjoying being free!

Plenty....

Of people feel the same. I've dug up an old thread here on it.

Don't kick yourself over it though - I'm sure the experts reckon you can reverse all effects if you have enough time on your side. The human body is remarkably resiliant.

Tim, there are many things that we should or shouldn't have done during our lives, those things have happened and are no longer in our control. But your future is in your control, what you have achieved is fantastic and you mustn't cloud that with negative 'what if' thoughts. Think forward, not reverse.

Cheers for the replies guys:)

Think I'm just having a bad one today.

My G.P. gave the same advice - "don't spend the rest of your life worrying about what might happen" - just find it difficult sometimes not to get stuck in the "what a fool i've been" bit.

Gonna go and watch top gear, see if some un p.c. lads humour will cheer me up a bit:o

not really because...

I was old enough and aware... very aware... of the risks, health issues, monetary set back, etc... So I am not going to beat myself up about it, because I know that if I had really cared then I would have never started or stopped by now.... hence I stopped now.... lol
